Once upon a time anime could only be found on VHS and conventions were a lot smaller. Once upon a time Cosplay was new and differentiated from regular Costuming. Once upon a time we watched whatever we got our hands on, good or bad, because that was all we could fine. The struggle was real.

I just finished binge watching Marvel's Inhumans Season 1. I know it got a lot of bad reviews and most just hated it. Even myself couldn't even finish watching the first episode on it's first night. With that being said, I was never big on the Inhumans comic books and certainly didn't know much about the characters other than Black Bolt, Medusa and LockJaw and my knowledge of them was through a friend who like reading their stories. I did enjoy Season 1 and I know all other seasons were cancelled within 24 hrs of the first episode so there's no chance of more season. The story itself was very Shakespearean, a tale as old as time itself which has often been used in many books, many movies or series and usually well received. I know I'm not well versed on the Inhumans and certainly wouldn't be aware of any changes of characters or parts of the story. I found the movie harder to watch and again I'm not aware of what they got wrong. Was it the acting? The script? The actors? I thought Anson Mount did a good job considering he didn't speak, not so easy to do. I certainly did enjoy this more than I did both Iron Fists on Netflix, that was a bad combination on many fronts; script, actors, acting, and no working knowledge of the main Character. Many writers, producers and directors have butchered Marvel Characters, Sang-Chi was the worst. Real-action Comic book Characters need to be more for Comic book fans. A good movie will bring people in, lots of movies I didn't get to see in theatres as a kid in the 70's because of an R or AA rating. I didn't suffer any long term problems because of it. little did we know that VHS was right around the corner. That was my rant and rave.

I'm a guard at a facility that contains the unnatural, or at least what society would consider to be unnatural. The way the world works is pretty set in stone, right? physics, chemistry, biology, what is possible and what is impossible, but what if I told you there was a fine line between the two? between order and complete chaos.
We contain whatever falls out of the norm, whether it be inanimate objects, places or even people, dangerous to themselves and others or completely harmless, we seek them and keep them away from the publics ever prying eyes.
We are called Sentinels and as far as I know, most of us are recruited from the existing pool of special forces and government agents worldwide, but our memories are mostly wiped in the process, you see there is a force at work in the universe that we don't quite understand, and for lack of a better term we refer to it as "Entropy" an unpredictable imbalance or disorder in the way of things.
As Sentinels, we have what's referred to as a low entropy, meaning we are the polar opposite of anomalies which retain a high entropy, things that fall into the norm have the baseline level of entropy, which is what we work to protect. As far as we've been told, a high entropy can be caused through traumatic experiences which living beings have suffered, it affects objects and people as well as the space in which it occurred. Our job as Sentinels is to combat and contain these anomalies using our low entropy levels.
Not every Sentinel is recruited though, there are those which we refer to as Imits, because they were born and raised to be Sentinels, mostly emotionless and stoic, their nickname is a result of them looking as if they're merely imitating a human being. A theory amongst us is that our minds are wiped because trauma leads to higher entropy, no memories equals no trauma, and the imits are trained from birth for the same reason, no trauma or contact with the horrors of this world, and they're trained to be particularly resilient, hence why they're typically on the first line of defence or in command spots.
Anyways on to the anomalies, the first example of many that I will tell you about is Subject-84762 "Barney", Originally brought to us as a corpse which was still showing signs of life despite having a sizeable bullet hole in his head, Barney had shot up a school two days prior to us finding out about him. Inexplicably though, Barney's eyes appeared as if he was in REM sleep and he would frequently make vocalisations that were becoming more common by the hour. We'd measured his entropy levels, which appeared to be 4x the baseline landing him the designation of a Category-4 anomaly.
He was brought in on my 2nd week as a Sentinel apprentice, I was tasked with guarding in the viewing room, watching as the coroner examined his body. "It would appear that the subject is covered in scarring, some seem to be quite faded whilst others are fairly recent" said the coroner, turning him on his back. "There seems to be a warmth emanating from these scars, assistant, scalpel ple-" The coroner was startled by the subject suddenly jolting awake, materialising what appeared to be a limb with a bladed tip made of bone from his back, he slashed the coroners throat.
The assistant screamed as blood sprayed over her, the two Sentinels stationed inside the room jumped to action, one closing his eyes as if going into a trance like state, this seemed to visibly weaken the subject. The 2nd Sentinel opened fire with his firearm, seemingly gaining the upper hand before there was an audible swish, the first Sentinel fell to the floor clutching his stomach as blood spilled over his boots. This seemed to be enough for my mentor, who was in the room with me, while I stood there mouth agape, he'd jumped to action activating the entropy dampeners and locking the room. "You fucking idiot, you forgotten your training or what?" he said staring angrily at me, all I could do was state hopelessly at the carnage taking place in the room ahead of us before feeling a firm slap across my face snapping me out of it.
I felt my mentors grip on my collar, pulling me close until I was face to face with him "Look boy, you're as green as they come, but risk a containment breach again and I will shoot you myself, is that clear?" he growled, "Yes sir" I murmured. My mentor was killed just two weeks later, Grayson was the only name I knew for him, whether it was his first or last name I couldn't tell you, we didn't have a funeral, but then again none of us do. Subject-84762 was appropriately nicknamed wolverine due to his bone blades and healing ability, and ever since he has been involved in over twenty containment breaches/attempts.
Three years later I had climbed the ranks, I was tasked with guarding the more dangerous anomalies, every day bleeding into the next in this cold grey prison filled with monsters. The only entertainment were either the same ten movies we could only work on the decade old television, a small assortment of books, and conversation with other dead eyed Sentinels with no memories just like myself. Even reading about new anomalies had eventually became dull, that was until I was assigned to a new anomaly.
"Diaz is to report to sector two for a new assignment" crackled the speakers, upon arriving I was greeted by a man I had never seen before, tall, smartly dressed in a black suit, his hair slicked back, as far back as I could remember id never seen anybody here dressed like this. "Sentinel Diaz I take it?" the man said in a gruff but firm voice, I nodded in response, "We have a job of utmost importance, and I'm told you're the man for the job" he said. I have to admit, this peaked my curiosity, "But first, you'll have to sign a few documents confirming that you wont disclose any of what you learn to your colleagues, understood sentinel?" "Understood, sir" I said in response.
The documents were a mess of technical mumbo jumbo, but they did tell me a bit about the subject I would be guarding, no name, but she was a woman in her late 20s, supposedly she had been living in another facility since age 14, and an incident had occurred which required a transfer that landed her here. No name, no list of her abilities, no reason as to why she is contained here, nothing, "Just another poor soul who stands out too much to be left alone, huh?" I whispered to myself. "Oh far from it!" the man said startling me. "This woman is highly important to us, which is why we require the best of the best to watch over her for us. Your job will be watching her and noting any changes to her behaviour as well as making sure she is well provided for" the man instructed "I can't tell you what her abilities are or anything else about her really, except this, under no circumstances should you ever hear her voice, believe me."
I was given a small device with a button I should press which would alert them of an emergency, and led to the woman's room by the man. Upon arriving, I was given a few extra instructions from the man, I could only communicate with the woman via a notepad we could place in an airlock of which only one side opened at once, also soundproofed. "Don't screw this up, I can't express the importance of this assignment" were the mans parting words to me as I entered the viewing room.
As I entered, it would seem as if the woman was just waking up, brushing her teeth while staring directly at me, I couldn't help but notice how beautiful she was her dark brown eyes and tanned skin, beautiful black hair gently resting over her shoulders, even if she had just woken up she was still mesmerising. My first time experiencing excitement, I sat in the seat opposite the window just watching her. How could something normal exist in a place like this? as she bent over to spit, I realised how creepy I was being, pointing my eyes in the direction of the control panel instead, I noticed that the audio button had clearly been removed, makes sense, the man did warn me about her voice.
This first 12 hours guarding her went by in a flash, I felt as if for the first time I was experiencing what it was like to be a human, an actual human, not a husk of one as most of us are in here. I'd watched her eat meals, read books, nap, and use her typewriter, although I couldn't make out any of the words whatsoever, the look on her face spun enough of a tale for me. That night, I lay in my cot wondering what she could have possibly done, where she came from. I dreamt of swirling colours like that of the paintings on her walls.
The next day was the first time we used the notepad, as I entered the room she seemed to have just woken up as well, but the light on the airlock was green which meant she had opened it from her side. Opening it up and grabbing the notepad, I saw her glance up from her book out of the corner of my eye. She stood up and begun walking towards the airlock, noticing that the colour of the light on her end had changed to green, she stared at me, looking in my eyes as if she could see me. As I opened up the notepad, there, written on the first page were the first words she would communicate to me. "Hi, I'm Alanie, who are you?" the words read.
Even her handwriting was beautiful, and Alanie, "Hello Alanie" I whispered as I returned her gaze "I'm Diaz, nice to meet you" I wrote in the notepad before gently placing it back in the airlock for her to retrieve. "Are you my new jailer?" I read upon receiving the notepad back, to that I couldn't reply, placing the notepad back in the airlock, I settled down to watch her for the rest of the day, admiring her as she went about her routine, giving her meals every now and then. It wouldn't be a week until we would converse again, "Okay, I'm getting lonely in here, you mind telling me about yourself?" she wrote, a warm feeling filled my stomach as I read these words. "I don't know much about myself really, they take our memories after we're recruited, and we don't leave" the confusion on her face evident as read my words.
The following months consisted of her teaching me about the outside world telling me what cars were, what the internet was, how sunlight felt. Even when we weren't conversing, she would sometimes pull up a chair and read her book with her back to the mirror, allowing me to read along with her. I considered her to be the first friend id made in this place, she made my days a little less dark and claustrophobic, my nights a little less filled with horror. Some days she would look solemn and talk less, others id notice bruising across her skin, Id assumed her to be self harming, try to make her feel a little less alone as she had done me. Eventually it had occurred to me she didn't know what I looked like, so for weeks id struggled to teach myself to draw, I must have went through thousands of sheets of paper before I finally drew something that looked vaguely like me.
The next day, I would slip my portrait in with the notebook with the letters "This is me" written below it, however, I began to worry when she wouldn't get out of bed until afternoon, and when she did I noticed bruising and cuts across her face. That day she didn't open up the airlock, she didn't write to me, she only spared a glance in my direction along with a faint smile. I didn't sleep that night, couldn't sleep, I knew something terrible was happening to her, I wanted to help but didn't know how. Thoughts plagued my mind, thoughts about the man, about breaking into her cell and rescuing her, about seeing this world she spoke so fondly of. She had me smitten, not only her beauty, not only what she had done for me, the life she had given me, but her soul, her beautiful soul that was so evident, that shone so brightly I would forget we were in a dungeon of beasts, I loved her.
Days went by, she seemingly deteriorated, she would lay in her bed for longer and longer hours, wouldn't eat meals, never checked the notepad despite me continuously writing in it. It was tearing me up inside, what was happening during the hours I wasn't there? the day shift would all be in their cots sleeping, prohibited to leave their barracks under consequence of death or being put on the front lines along with the imits which would surely mean the same thing, yet I had to do something. I had to think of a plan to at least find out what was happening to her while I was away.
That night, before heading back to my barracks, I began my walk to sector 7 where the less dangerous anomalies were housed. A lot of the time, these cells are unguarded by Sentinels and instead just patrolled. I hid in the observation room until the patrol had just passed, and once they had, I began looking over which anomaly I would release until eventually I landed on one. Subject-2276 "Johan" nicknamed "Red glass" the boy could crystalise his skin into an unknown material tougher than even diamond, he could also fire projectile shards of this material from his hands at will, but was relatively tame, I didn't want anybody hurt after all. Opening his cell door and running as fast as I could back to sector two, it wasn't one minute until I heard the alarms around the facility blare.
Running faster than I ever thought possible towards Alanie's cell, stumbling as I went, I was forced to stop and hide around a corner as I noticed people in the hallway ahead of me. Looking over at them, I could see the man along with two Sentinels leading her down the hallway, she had her hands bound and her mouth gagged. As she walked they would shock her if she slowed at any point, a hot rage filled my chest as I gripped my firearm, ready to charge over there and execute all three of them, but before I could act, I felt a pain in the back of my head before darkness.
Waking up, the back of my neck feeling wet and my head still aching, I stared around me only to see Alanie directly in front of me, gazing at me while tied to a chair. I tried to reach out to her, but found my hands were tied too, "Alanie, its me, Diaz, are you okay? did they hurt you?" thats when a sick laugh came down the speakers, and then a voice, that same gruff voice which could only belong to the man. "Thought you'd play the hero, huh? thought you would kill us and save the girl? How pathetic of you" the mans harsh words bit like a snake "Though I suppose you have aided us somewhat, I find your attempt at rescue quite insulting" "Aided you in what?" I yelled, staring at the camera in the corner of the room.
The man chuckled, "Ah, let me tell you a little something about our girl, you see, she's not just a prisoner, she's a tool. Quite possibly the most valuable tool we have ever possessed, you see, the reason it isn't advised to hear her voice is because things she states while people can hear her become reality" he said. I was lost for words, I knew this was a dangerous ability to have, but surely there was a way to get rid of it, before I could utter a word he continued "Obviously there's a limit to this ability, for now. She cannot make the moon crash to the Earth, nor make the sun explode, no, but she can blow a hole in the side of a building, she can make heads explode all with just her words. We however believe this to be valuable, an asset, so we are trying to enhance her ability. Trauma, it increases entropy, take a look around, who's cell are you in right now?" I take a look around before it finally clicks.
I was in subject 5673's cell, I didn't have clearance to access the file for this specific subject, but we had all heard the stories, it was a chair which belonged to a therapist in a maximum security prison, imbued with the memories of the evil these men had committed and fallen victim to, this chair would penetrate the minds of whoever was sat in the chair long enough. Laughing more sadistically this time "We were using this chair on our girl for a time, she has made progress but not much, not as much as she would with her own trauma. That's when we stationed you with her along with a means of communication that wasn't verbal, pushed you both together so to say, two lonely hard done by souls". The first of the visions from the chair began, a man being beaten bloody, I felt every blow land on my face, every attempt to stop it failing before I hear the mans voice again "She cares for you, and you her, she will sit here and watch you slowly be driven insane by this endless torture, but even then we won't give you the satisfaction of death".
This went on for hours, the pain of hundreds being etched into my brain, I could taste blood from biting my own tongue and lips, my wrists sore and bleeding from struggling against my bindings, it all felt hopeless when finally I heard an explosion, a big one, feeling my bindings undo themselves, I fell into her arms exhausted. I finally heard her voice whisper "It's ok honey, I'm here" regaining my senses, I see her beautiful brown eyes looking down at me, and a wave of calmness washes over me. I'm finally with her, she wraps me in her warm embrace as I collapse into her arms, before the sound of a gunshot rings in my ears and I feel numb. The last thing I hear before I die, is her scream, a final word from the man, and an audible pop.
Suddenly I see light as I awaken, I feel different, like I'm not me, memories begin flooding my head, memories that feel familiar but aren't mine. The mans voice jolts me up, as I feel myself bound again under a bright light, "I'm sure you must be very confused" says the man, "I'll give you a moment".

When rumors about a Sonic Adventure remake hit the internet I was pleasantly surprised. Sonic Adventure was the first game I played for my Dreamcast when I got it back in 1999. I thought of writing a review for it but after playing it again after all these years I realized that a review wouldn't do this game justice. I just wouldn't be able to articulate my feelings on the game and what it means to me with a simple review, so I decided to write a retrospective on it.
When I was a little kid back in 1999 I remember my first time seeing Sonic Adventure in action. I was at my best friend's house and he had just gotten his hands on the brand new Sega Dreamcast. At first, I didn't know what to expect but when I saw the opening Cutscene for Sonic Adventure everything I thought I knew about video games changed.

At the time this was one of the best looking games ever
The only other games I had ever seen in 3D at the time were Super Mario 64 and 007 Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64. Both of these games were great, but neither of them could hold a candle to Sonic Adventure in the visual department. This was the first time I had ever seen a 3D cutscene and it looked outstanding. Even after 20 years, the opening cutscene for Sonic Adventure still has so much liveliness and visual flair. Accompanying this is Johnny Gioli and Jun Senoi's Premiere song for a video game "Open Your Heart", and you have a wonderfully done opening that will stick with you for all the right reasons.
Now the rest of the game I, unfortunately, cannot say the same for. After I went back and played it for about a dozen hours I realized that it didn't quite hold up to my memories. It was by no means a horrible game, but it definitely wasn't the life-changing masterpiece that many people believed it to be back in the late '90s
I realized that I like many people viewed this game through rose-tinted Glasses and filtered all the flaws out in favor of only focusing on the things we adored about it. In order to elaborate I'm going to have to talk about the '90s again.
Back in 1999, I was part of a small clique of students who loved video games and traded game secrets on the playground. Keep in mind the internet sucked back then and games weren't as popular as they are now so even the game sites that did exist at the time rarely focused on giving out game secrets. There was this one kid who was subscribed to Nintendo power and had a six-issue Pokemon miniseries filled with game exploits such as how to capture Missingno.
He traded it to me for a VHS tape I recorded of Sonic Adventure footage showing him how the game looked and how to get past certain levels (God I miss the 90's). Anyway, Sonic Adventure wasn't the first game in the franchise that I played. I had the Sonic And Knuckles collection for Windows 95 which consisted of Sonic The Hedgehog 3, Sonic & Knuckles, as well as Sonic 3& Knuckles. I remember playing through levels like Ice Cap Zone in Sonic 3 and then playing through the 3D rendition in Sonic Adventure. It was so much fun. A lot of things about Sonic Adventure were fun. The characters weren't the most in-depth or well written, but they did a serviceable job of progressing the story. The story for its time was pretty ambitious, but the laughably bad lip-syncing and mouth movement accompanied by flat line delivery from certain side characters makes it hard to take seriously by nowadays standards.
The game could also be very glitchy at times. If you've ever played the game or watched YouTube walkthroughs than chances are you've come across a glitch where you fall through the game world.However, this happens rarely and when it does it can be quite humorous. The games biggest drawback for me though would be its ridiculously small hub world. The hub world in this game is basically a means to connect the game's action stages. While exploring them can be endearing for some I personally never saw them as anything but harmless. They don't hurt the game per se, and they offer a chance to find hidden collectibles and power-ups, but I never felt that there were enough of these to warrant taking away time from the action stages. I think what really hurt this game the most was the development time. Sonic Adventure was rushed to release date on December 23rd in Japan of 1998. Had the development team been given an extra year or maybe even just 10 months It most likely could have been much better. The more I think about a remake of this game the more I can't help but wonder if it is a good idea. There's a lot on the line here and a lot of fans will be pressuring Sega and Sonic Team to do it justice. However, even if the remake does turn out great, it just won't have the same impact as it did back in the day.
Games these days are capable of looking almost lifelike, and Sonic The Hedgehog is looked at more of a kids franchise that people don't want to take seriously anymore. I guess I'm just feeling nostalgic for a time in my life I won't be able to recapture. But you know what I'm fine with that. If this game does get remade it won't be made for me. It will be made primarily for all the people who love the new Sonic. Regardless of whether this game gets made, whether it bombs or succeeds, I will always have my memories of my childhood with the original Sonic Adventure. And who knows maybe 20 years from now an adult who is a kid now will be writing about their experience playing the new Sonic Adventure and feeling nostalgic about that game.

Or, if anything goes wrong, he rewinds once itās clear he can go no further. Itās imperative that we do not enter the teleportation wards unless we are 100% sure we can pull it off to completion. For this I suggest that if we manage to get all the way to the CARF pre-rewind, only us two enter while Albert waits outside. We keep a phone line always open to relay information and video recordings while we try to infiltrate as much as we can, then once we hit a wall he rewinds.ā

āI can do this, mom.ā Albert said, trying to get her attention.
He was much shorter than her, even without her high heels. She glared at him, seeing him wither under her towering figure.
āYou canāt. How long have you had magic? Two weeks? How long have you been ātrainingā with those system quests?ā
āIā¦ā he said, whimpering. But then he squared himself up, and suddenly it was as if he was the one towering over her, and she was nothing but a leaf in the wind. If he wanted to hurt her, she could not resist.
Then the moment passed, all that was left the memory of it already fading from her awareness.
On the other side of the room, her father glared at her just as much as she had glared at her son. She looked at him first, then at her father again, and all her resolve seemed to evaporate. But then the thought of her son getting hurt made her stomach lurch, and she felt her throat dry.
āI donāt want you to risk getting hurt, or worseā¦ā she said in a small voice.
āSam. Get a hold of yourself, for fuckās sake!ā Her fatherās booming voice rattled her thoughts. āGrow a spine. You are not his mother now, you are Samantha Cromwell, head of the fucking BSA, you hear me?ā
āGuys!ā Albert said, trying to gain their attention. āWe are wasting time. Rewindable time. Come on, pull yourselves together.ā
Samantha stood straighter, and her eyes deepened. Having her own son snap her back to reality was the waking up call she needed. Man, had he always been this assertive? She was proud, if a little bit offended at being yelled at.
āYou are right. Plan A ā where Albert comes with us ā is more risky for him but gives us a lot of maneuvering room. He has magic and can escape at the first sign of danger. Plan B is much riskier. We donāt have mental protection and we could be turned into enemy agents without him ever knowing it happened. Weāll go with plan A. If any of you has a better idea, now is the time.ā
They might have had a better idea, maybe. Maybe not. Nobody spoke and Samantha decided it was time to move out. The rewind window was approaching rapidly, with the Hazegem becoming usable at noon at the earliest. It was 5 in the morning now, which meant that the first possible rewind would be 7 hours from now.
āAlbert, if you ever need to rewind, rewind back to this moment. If you do that weāll see you disappear before our eyes and then teleport in, right?ā
āYes, thatās how it looks from the outside.ā
āVery good. If that happens, then weāll know something went wrong and weāll change plans accordingly. From now on, you are the priority, okay? Do not get captured, injured or incapacitated under any circumstances. If you doā¦ā

Albert chuckled. Samantha smiled a smile that didnāt reach her eyes. If anything happened to him, she would never be able to forgive herself. But this was not the time for such thoughts, and although risky, their plan was the best shot they had with the limited time and means they had.

Albert looked at the notification from the System hovering, as usual, in the air before his eyes. It always took on different shapes and styles, making letters appear out of pure light at times, while at other times it manipulated the perception of what was already there to make itself blend with the place. This time, it was like an old VHS tape, with flickering text that was the color of television, tunes to a dead channel.He could redeem the rewards from the quest he completed when he appeared in Elvenhome earlier that night, the action that set off the chain of events that eventually led him to where he was now, at his grandpaās house waiting for his mother to arrive. But, just as he had skipped cashing in on the rewards then, he decided to do the same now. He was not in the right mind to learn a new skill, especially the skill he had in mind to learn with the auto completion of the quest the system would give him.
Right on cue too, because there was a knock on the door. His mother was here.

Samantha Cromwell had made good use of the trip by car, time for herself granted to her either by accident or by design, to reflect and cool down. The new reality was simple: her son was a magically enhanced individual who had been granted a āsystemā by an unknown entity of unknown goals. The problem it posed was beyond a simple alignment problem, it was almost existential.
But now was not the time. The situation was dire. On her way to her fatherās house she received a notification on her phone: it was the Quadrangle, contacting her directly through their preferential ā and confidential ā channel of communication. It was an encrypted message directed to her and her only, a recording of the live video feed from the surveillance cameras in the containment labs where the Eggs were being held.
They werenāt there anymore. The footage was blurry, but the interference was compatible with the kind of tampering she knew SpaceOps was capable of. The worrying, but totally expected, thing was that when she asked the on-site personnel for status updates, they claimed that all was in the green, and that nothing of note had happened. It wasnāt so much as them not having noticed the break-in, either. They had been, all of them, brainwashed already. She should count herself lucky that circumstances had forced her out of that place, or she didnāt know what would have happened to her had she stayed.
When she arrived at the house she was greeted by her grandpa sprawled on the sofa, sipping a beer straight from the bottle, and her son nervously pacing around the living room, running circles around the table and sofa. Lloyd was evidently amused, but neither she nor her son shared the mood. He was clearly more jaded and used to these situations that Albert was, but she should have been too, yetā¦ this was too personal, too close to home.
At least she finally understood why the kidnapping hadnāt happened to Albert himself but to his friend. PsyOps was scared of him.
āOh, hey Sam.ā Lloyd said, pulling himself up.
āHi mom. Everything okay?ā Albert greeted her.
She schooled her face. āYeah. Just thinking, thatās all.ā
āI know. Me too.ā Albert said. āIāve been thinking about Marc nonstop ever since I saw that photo. If I could, Iād go there right now to rescue him. But I donāt even know where this CARF thing even is.ā
āDonāt! Itās too dangerous!ā
Albert smiled. āDonāt worry. I canāt. My teleportation only takes me to places I have visited before. Itās justā¦ not fair. Itās not fair. Just because heās my friend! I wonder how heās doing.ā
Lloyd cleared his throat. āWe need to formulate a plan of attack. Albert, tell your mother about the Hazegem.ā
āRight. I can rewind time, right now up toā¦ 11 hours. When I do, everything goes back to the way it was before except for information on devices I have touched. And me. I stay in the same location relative to Earth and retain all memories and eventual wounds. But I can heal wounds soāā
āNo wounds.ā Sam said immediately. āI would never allow it.ā
āBut,ā Lloyd interjected. āThis opens up a lot of possibilities. As long as we manage to send him all the information he needs, it doesnāt matter if one of us dies. He can just rewind us back to life.ā
Samantha hummed. āThis is interesting indeed. Dangerous but interesting.ā
She didnāt like the idea of dying, but it sure as hell made for a huge advantage on their part.
āLetās come up with a plan, we do it and then, eleven hours after that, you Albert rewind time right to the exact moment when we start to act. This way we can update the plan with all the information we gathered in the first iteration.ā
āHe can rewind only once, right?ā Samantha asked.
Lloyd nodded.
āMmh. We canāt afford slip-ups the second time around, then.ā
After the basic information was laid down for all to digest, they finally moved on to the actual planning stage. The one thing they needed to do was to somehow get Albert all the way to the CARF without him sustaining more damage than he could heal. On this point Samantha and her father were in disagreement, but after a heated argument Samantha had to concede that the possibility that Albert would get hurt was real and unavoidable, and she had to accept it.
She didnāt like how lightly the matter was approached, and how readily Albert accepted the risk. She could understand her father, the man was a monster, but what exactly had happened to Albert that he was ready to accept pain as a fair price to pay? What happened to the hypochondriac son she had? He could heal, right, but that was not enough to satisfy her.
Still.
āA possible plan is that he reaches the CARF pre-rewind and then rewinds when heās in the cell. From there itās all a matter of leaving the range of the teleportation wards and teleporting out.ā Lloyd said.
āI canāt take other people with me.ā Albert said, shaking his head.
āYou could repair the device.ā

I've been processing covert and overt SA for the past few months. Something has been coming up over and over. I'm now seeing moments that might be normal in a parent child relationship, as much darker, given what I know about my father.
I think it's normal to get a cute bath video, or something along those lines. But, when I digitized all our family VHS tapes years ago, I realized there were a lot of videos of me naked or not wearing very much between ages 2-8ish. Potty training, some bath videos, changing clothes or in a bathing suit. Or, zooming in on my butt when I'm wearing bloomers around the age of 3 or so.
There's one where I'm around 7, when my dad had just picked me up from swim lessons. (He shot some during lesson too. And captured my rather hot swim teacher in the pool. Gross.) I would often ask to walk down our long driveway once we pulled in. I'm in a bathing suit, walking and my Dad is driving right behind me, taking a video of me walking. It goes on for about 5-7 minutes. He's not saying anything, when he would normally have some kind of stupid dialogue with the camera. You can tell I'm confused by what he's doing too. I stop and look back at him, cross infront of the car acouple times. At the end, I'm giving him a confused look and ask him what he's doing. Him - "Taking your picture" Me - "why" Him - "cause you're pretty".
Seems innocent enough, right? But, he's also done MANY other things that were absolutely crossing the line, and the way he filmed me, not talking and zooming in on me, gives me the creeps. It just does and I can't explain it. It's confusing AF.
He's also always bragged that he gave me my first kiss when I was born. My Mom had an emergency c-section so she wasn't the first to hold me. I always cringed a bit when he told the story. He thought it was sweet so I just smiled and nodded. But now, after realizing that he only sees women as sexual objects, and he doesn't listen to respect most women, I've changed the way I feel about the "first kiss" comment. It feels like he sexualized me as a newborn baby, claiming the first male to female kiss. Rather than a loving parent to child kiss. He essentially made me into a daughter wife. He refused to do housework or even clean up after himself, so I ended up doing it so my Mom wouldn't get mad. So now hearing him say he gave me my first kiss as a newborn, feels darker, like he was giving me more of a "this is my property" kind of kiss, rather than one of real love.
How do you deal with the instances that were extremely covert, to the point where you're not even sure what they were thinking. If it doesn't need to hurt like it does, then it shouldn't, so I wrack my brain and ruminate over these little things that feel bigger than they sound.

The following effects are applied to survivors upon gaining stacks of Condemned:

You lose exposed when close to a TV, so an Onryo cant stop you from inserting the tape with a one shot-down.

Each Survivor starts the Trial with a VHS Tape in their possession, and their highlighted TV is the one farthest from their location. Once the exit gates are powered, every survivor gains a stack of Condemned and are given another tape also to be delivered to the farthest TV from their location. If a survivor attempts to leave while holding a tape, they will instantly gain 7 stacks of condemned and the exit gates will be blocked for 7 seconds.

Make it more like field recorder or iri tape for pig, an effect at the start and end of the trial.

My idea for the two iris is to make them change how you play Sadako. This will encourage you to spread condemn and make it so survivors cant stop you from spreading it by turning off Tvs. You will have fun and have a better time chasing with the many speed boosts you will have. Combined with other perks, like Play With Your Food, you can reach insane speeds.

Iridescent Videotape changes the following:
Survivors may now be killed by Inexorable Stare when they gain 6 stacks of condemened.
Projection will now give survivors 1.2 stacks of condemned ( 1.2 x 5 = 6 stacks. )
Survivors who gain 7 stacks of condemned may no longer retrieve a tape and their aura is revealed to The OnryÅ while they are outside of a 32 metre radius.
Condemned may only be gained through passive gain and when The OnryÅ uses projection.
The base cool-down of projection is now 60 seconds.
All status effects of condemned except for the Exposed status effect are applied at 5 stacks ( Oblivious, Blindness, 3% Hindered )

Oblivious does not matter too much if the player is moving around demanifested a lot, only a minor benefit. Blindness isnāt the most powerful status effect either. Exposed will overall make the Onryo more powerful. Being the one sent to turn off every TV is much more dangerous. You lose exposed when close to a TV, so an Onryo cant stop you from inserting the tape with a one shot-down.

Once the exit gates are powered, every survivor gains a stack of Condemned and are given another tape also to be delivered to the farthest TV from their location. If a survivor attempts to leave while holding a tape, they will instantly gain 7 stacks of condemned and the exit gates will be blocked for 7 seconds.

a lot of polls tend to crop up on this sub asking people what their favorite town is, but i've yet to see one asking what people's LEAST favorite town is.
this is just my opinion, but personally i've always found rosewood rather boring. it's a decent start, sure (easy axes in the fire station, generally low pop, easy books, etc.) but i'd argue riverside is far better if you want a chill start, seeing as it is far easier to get a car (giant parking lots and a VHS store to find a carzone tape and level up your mechanics for hotwiring), has far more books, more hardware loot, and lower zombie population density to boot. rosewood doesn't really have anything that riverside doesn't have apart from a little more guns and ammo in the police station, and the fact that the surrounding fields and forests are swarmed with zombies that constantly trickle into town is also quite annoying.
furthermore, in the late game, there's really little reason to visit the town at all, except for the fire station or police station. the lack of any significant hardware loot makes rosewood pale in comparison to other towns - every other town has at least one warehouse and storage unit complex, and riverside and west point have tool stores, but in rosewood your only source of hardware loot is garages (and it's not like other towns are lacking in those, either). not to mention it's somewhat out of the way as well.
rosewood fire station is a fun base but i prefer to base closer to water for fishing, and the size feels somewhat unnecessary.
not saying rosewood is bad - i still like it - just that the other towns tend to interest me more.
that's just my two cents, though, so i'm curious what the rest of this community has to say.

I. The Bank Run On March 10, Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) collapsed, becoming the second largest bank failure in US History. The timeline of the collapse was as follows:
So which VC was the first to report it? This is difficult to pinpoint exactly, but Peter Thiel's Founders Fund Is the only one I've found cited:

Thiel's Big Bet Peter Thiel rose to tech stardom during the dot-com bubble as a founder and CEO of PayPal, which became one of the first and most successful ways to make payments online using a digital wallet. In 2005, he created Founders Fund, a generalist VC firm that has had investments in companies as diverse as SpaceX, Airbnb, Facebook, Spotify and Oscar Health. Thiel has made countless investments, but the majority of Thiel's $8 billion estimated net worth can be traced to one specific asset. Starting in mid-2017, Founders Fund bought around $20 million worth of Bitcoin. Immediately afterward, Bitcoin began its first massive surge, jumping from $50 to $315 in less than six months. A Beginner's Guide to Ponzi Schemes Ponzi schemes are often very elaborate in order to keep the scheme hidden, but the fundamentals are extremely simple: The scam operator gets people to invest in something by promising very high returns, but the investment doesn't actually exist. Instead, the scammer pays off people's returns with money they got from other investors. So if two people invest $100 in a Ponzi scheme and then the "investment" goes up 50% and one of them withdraws, the scammer will pay out the $150 from the $200 collected. Because Ponzi schemes make no real investments, they could never pay back all of the returns to all of the investors. Because of this, Ponzi schemes require a constant flow of new money to stay AFLOAT. If our example scammer never finds a third investor and the remaining investor tries to withdraw their $150, the scammer can't pay it and the Ponzi scheme would be revealed as a sham. This causes the collapse of the scheme to become more devastating for victims the longer it goes on: Victims see the high returns they're apparently getting on their investment so they often leave their money in and continually add to it. When the scheme collapses, all of the money that the victim thought they had invested is revealed to be non-existent: They've been getting statements showing their investment increasing, but their money disappeared a long time ago. Even though there are clearly outsized numbers of Ponzi schemes within the cryptocurrency industry, it doesn't mean Peter Thiel is running a Ponzi scheme as well. But does Thiel's operation share any of these common characteristics? Let's have a look at his Bitcoin 2022 Conference keynote speech and see if it sounds like any of the aforementioned cryptocurrency scams: He asserts that Bitcoin is a store of value and a gold replacement because it is an impenetrably safe asset for investors during turbulent times, echoing an argument he's been making since at least 2018. "Bitcoin: Store of value. Gold replacement." Although Bitcoin was roughly $45,000 per coin at the time, Thiel says it is severely undervalued. Since gold has a market cap of $12 trillion, and since Bitcoin is replacing gold like he told us, we can expect Bitcoin to explode up to a $10 trillion market cap, which would be about roughly a 10x increase in the price of Bitcoin. But then he pivots: "But the real competitor for Bitcoinā¦is not even gold. It's something like the S&P 500; it's the stock market as a whole." He explains that the gold market and the stock market were the same size in 1980, but now the stock market is 10 times the size of gold. And, he asks, since the stock market is the benchmark for Bitcoin, "Why can't there be parity between Bitcoin and equities? Why wouldn't we be talking about something more like a hundred-to-one [increase in Bitcoin price]?" The audience goes wild with excitement. In his conclusion, he explains that in our corrupt world of traditional finance, Bitcoin's biggest asset is the mysterious veil that surrounds it, since it protects against enemy number one: The Federal banking system. "Bitcoin is not a company. We do not have a board. We do not know who Satoshi [the mysterious creator of Bitcoin] is." Is Bitcoin a Ponzi scheme? I don't know. Does Bitcoin sound nearly identical to several known Ponzi schemes? It certainly does. Absolutely. VI. The Bearish Decoupling Although Bitcoin had an unprecedented years-long surge since Thiel invested in 2017, it reached its last peak in October, 2021. Since then, the price of Bitcoin has plummeted over 70%. In 2021, Thiel backed the cryptocurrency exchange Bitpanda, which tripled its valuation to $4.1 billion in just five months after the deal. A year later, Bitpanda laid off a third of their workforce as Bitcoin plummeted. Remember how Ponzi schemes always require more and more cash inflows or else the bottom will fall out? If Thiel is running a Ponzi scheme, then this would be catastrophic. It would only be a matter of time until the bottom falls out unless Thiel could start getting a whole lot of cash flowing in again. 7. What about those other Bank Failures? Silicon Valley Bank wasn't the only bank failure in March 2023. Two days prior, Silvergate Capital liquidated; two days after SVB, Signature Bank went under. Although the narrative has been around a failure of regional banking**, Silvergate and Signature were** the two largest providers of banking services to the cryptocurrency industry. Last December, in the wake of the FTX collapse, Senators Elizabeth Warren and Tina Smith wrote a letter to Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. The FTX collapse surfaced alarming exposure to cryptocurrency in the U.S. banking system (insolvent husks in bold): "Moonstone and Deltec are just two of several banks to have their crypto ties come under scrutiny in the FTX fallout, including Silvergate Capital Corp., Provident Bancorp Inc., Metropolitan Commercial Bank, Signature Bank, Customers Bancorp Inc., and others." They go on to say, "In the case of Silvergate, crypto deposits accounted for 90% of the bank's overall deposit base." Silvergate and Signature were so critical to the cryptocurrency industry because they had offered 24/7 transfers between cryptocurrency and fiat money (US Dollars and so on). These services played a crucial role in keeping Ponzi schemes alive, as we know from our crash course above: First, it supports the illusion that fraudulent coins are just as valuable as real money by allowing the seamless transfer from one to the other. Second, these services allowed for a massive increase in cash flows, which the scheme needs in order to survive. VIII. Today in Bitcoin Although the industry has been in shambles for a year and a half and the two largest cryptocurrency banks just imploded, the sentiment around cryptocurrency is more positive than it has been in a very long time. "Bitcoin thrives in chaos", says Bloomberg. "Turmoil in the banking sector, hotter-than expected inflation data, and renewed hopes for a dovish Federal Reserve has Bitcoin reaching levels not seen in about nine months." While some have tried to put the blame on cryptocurrency for these bank failures, former Congressman and Signature Bank board member Barney Frank has a different theory: The collapse of these banks was caused by too much unnecessary panic around cryptocurrency. Forbes, which cryptocurrency giant Binance owns 20% of, ran the following headline: "Bitcoin at $1 Million In 90 Days And Dollar Destroyed -- Huge Crypto Price Prediction Bet Fueled By Bank Crisis and Hyperinflation.", which has an uncanny resemblance to what Peter Thiel shared in his Bitcoin 2022 keynote speech. Or as Thiel said in 2018: "I would be long bitcoin, and neutral to skeptical of just about everything elseā¦ It's like bars of gold in a vault that never move, and it's a sort of hedge against the whole world falling apart". IX. Putting it all Together Based on the preponderance of evidence above, I believe the following to be true: Peter Thiel (and likely countless associates) intentionally caused a run on Silicon Valley Bank by telling his fund's investors to pull out. He did this because his bitcoin empire is a sham, and the tangled web of Ponzi schemes at the heart of the cryptocurrency industry was collapsing after new investors dried up. The SVB collapse would distract the public from the obvious failures in the crypto industry, would jeopardize the traditional banking system, and would sow fear and panic across the planet as people start withdrawing their money from the banks. Meanwhile, he and his army of shills continue promoting the narrative that these bank failures were caused by regional banking issues and not by the collapse of history's largest Ponzi scheme. They stir up panic and distrust in the traditional banking system and then sell bitcoin as the only safe alternative. I believe this to be completely true, and I think I can convince you of the same: Peter Thiel's Founders Fund venture capital firm intentionally collapsed Silicon Valley Bank in order to create a global panic We'll dig deeper into Peter Thiel later on, but for now just know that he's a notorious tech billionaire who runs a venture capital (VC) firm called Founders Fund. I. The Bank Run On March 10, Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) collapsed, becoming the second largest bank failure in US History. The timeline of the collapse was as follows:
So which VC was the first to report it? This is difficult to pinpoint exactly, but Peter Thiel's Founders Fund Is the only one I've found cited:

Thiel's Big Bet Peter Thiel rose to tech stardom during the dot-com bubble as a founder and CEO of PayPal, which became one of the first and most successful ways to make payments online using a digital wallet. In 2005, he created Founders Fund, a generalist VC firm that has had investments in companies as diverse as SpaceX, Airbnb, Facebook, Spotify and Oscar Health. Thiel has made countless investments, but the majority of Thiel's $8 billion estimated net worth can be traced to one specific asset. Starting in mid-2017, Founders Fund bought around $20 million worth of Bitcoin. Immediately afterward, Bitcoin began its first massive surge, jumping from $50 to $315 in less than six months. But before we go further, we're going to need a crash course. III. A Beginner's Guide to Ponzi Schemes Ponzi schemes are often very elaborate in order to keep the scheme hidden, but the fundamentals are extremely simple: The scam operator gets people to invest in something by promising very high returns, but the investment doesn't actually exist. Instead, the scammer pays off people's returns with money they got from other investors. So if two people invest $100 in a Ponzi scheme and then the "investment" goes up 50% and one of them withdraws, the scammer will pay out the $150 from the $200 collected. Because Ponzi schemes make no real investments, they could never pay back all of the returns to all of the investors. Because of this, Ponzi schemes require a constant flow of new money to stay AFLOAT. If our example scammer never finds a third investor and the remaining investor tries to withdraw their $150, the scammer can't pay it and the Ponzi scheme would be revealed as a sham. This causes the collapse of the scheme to become more devastating for victims the longer it goes on: Victims see the high returns they're apparently getting on their investment so they often leave their money in and continually add to it. When the scheme collapses, all of the money that the victim thought they had invested is revealed to be non-existent: They've been getting statements showing their investment increasing, but their money disappeared a long time ago. Although Ponzi schemes can look massively different than one another, there are several common characteristics such as the following:

V. How Peter Thiel sells Bitcoin Even though there are clearly outsized numbers of Ponzi schemes within the cryptocurrency industry, it doesn't mean Peter Thiel is running a Ponzi scheme as well. But does Thiel's operation share any of these common characteristics? Let's have a look at his Bitcoin 2022 Conference keynote speech and see if it sounds like any of the aforementioned cryptocurrency scams: He asserts that Bitcoin is a store of value and a gold replacement because it is an impenetrably safe asset for investors during turbulent times, echoing an argument he's been making since at least 2018. "Bitcoin: Store of value. Gold replacement." Although Bitcoin was roughly $45,000 per coin at the time, Thiel says it is severely undervalued. Since gold has a market cap of $12 trillion, and since Bitcoin is replacing gold like he told us, we can expect Bitcoin to explode up to a $10 trillion market cap, which would be about roughly a 10x increase in the price of Bitcoin. But then he pivots: "But the real competitor for Bitcoinā¦is not even gold. It's something like the S&P 500; it's the stock market as a whole." He explains that the gold market and the stock market were the same size in 1980, but now the stock market is 10 times the size of gold. And, he asks, since the stock market is the benchmark for Bitcoin, "Why can't there be parity between Bitcoin and equities? Why wouldn't we be talking about something more like a hundred-to-one [increase in Bitcoin price]?" The audience goes wild with excitement. Instead, he asserts that this is because "Bitcoin is always the most honest market in the world. It's the most efficient market, and it was the canary in the coal mineā¦it was telling us the inflation was comingā¦.It is telling us that the central banks are bankrupt, that we are at the end of the fiat regime." In his conclusion, he explains that in our corrupt world of traditional finance, Bitcoin's biggest asset is the mysterious veil that surrounds it, since it protects against enemy number one: The Federal banking system. "Bitcoin is not a company. We do not have a board. We do not know who Satoshi [the mysterious creator of Bitcoin] is." Is Bitcoin a Ponzi scheme? I don't know. Does Bitcoin sound nearly identical to several known Ponzi schemes? It certainly does. Absolutely. VI. The Bearish Decoupling Although Bitcoin had an unprecedented years-long surge since Thiel invested in 2017, it reached its last peak in October, 2021. Since then, the price of Bitcoin has plummeted over 70%. In 2021, Thiel backed the cryptocurrency exchange Bitpanda, which tripled its valuation to $4.1 billion in just five months after the deal. A year later, Bitpanda laid off a third of their workforce as Bitcoin plummeted. Remember how Ponzi schemes always require more and more cash inflows or else the bottom will fall out? If Thiel is running a Ponzi scheme, then this would be catastrophic. It would only be a matter of time until the bottom falls out unless Thiel could start getting a whole lot of cash flowing in again. VII. What about those other Bank Failures? Silicon Valley Bank wasn't the only bank failure in March 2023. Two days prior, Silvergate Capital liquidated; two days after SVB, Signature Bank went under. Although the narrative has been around a failure of regional banking**, Silvergate and Signature were** the two largest providers of banking services to the cryptocurrency industry. Last December, in the wake of the FTX collapse, Senators Elizabeth Warren and Tina Smith wrote a letter to Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. The FTX collapse surfaced alarming exposure to cryptocurrency in the U.S. banking system (insolvent husks in bold): "Moonstone and Deltec are just two of several banks to have their crypto ties come under scrutiny in the FTX fallout, including Silvergate Capital Corp., Provident Bancorp Inc., Metropolitan Commercial Bank, Signature Bank, Customers Bancorp Inc., and others." They go on to say, "In the case of Silvergate, crypto deposits accounted for 90% of the bank's overall deposit base." Silvergate and Signature were so critical to the cryptocurrency industry because they had offered 24/7 transfers between cryptocurrency and fiat money (US Dollars and so on). These services played a crucial role in keeping Ponzi schemes alive, as we know from our crash course above: First, it supports the illusion that fraudulent coins are just as valuable as real money by allowing the seamless transfer from one to the other. Second, these services allowed for a massive increase in cash flows, which the scheme needs in order to survive. VIII. Today in Bitcoin Although the industry has been in shambles for a year and a half and the two largest cryptocurrency banks just imploded, the sentiment around cryptocurrency is more positive than it has been in a very long time. "Bitcoin thrives in chaos", says Bloomberg. "Turmoil in the banking sector, hotter-than expected inflation data, and renewed hopes for a dovish Federal Reserve has Bitcoin reaching levels not seen in about nine months." While some have tried to put the blame on cryptocurrency for these bank failures, former Congressman and Signature Bank board member Barney Frank has a different theory: The collapse of these banks was caused by too much unnecessary panic around cryptocurrency. Forbes, which cryptocurrency giant Binance owns 20% of, ran the following headline: "Bitcoin at $1 Million In 90 Days And Dollar Destroyed -- Huge Crypto Price Prediction Bet Fueled By Bank Crisis and Hyperinflation.", which has an uncanny resemblance to what Peter Thiel shared in his Bitcoin 2022 keynote speech. Or as Thiel said in 2018: "I would be long bitcoin, and neutral to skeptical of just about everything elseā¦ It's like bars of gold in a vault that never move, and it's a sort of hedge against the whole world falling apart". IX. Putting it all Together Based on the preponderance of evidence above, I believe the following to be true: Peter Thiel (and likely countless associates) intentionally caused a run on Silicon Valley Bank by telling his fund's investors to pull out. He did this because his bitcoin empire is a sham, and the tangled web of Ponzi schemes at the heart of the cryptocurrency industry was collapsing after new investors dried up. The SVB collapse would distract the public from the obvious failures in the crypto industry, would jeopardize the traditional banking system, and would sow fear and panic across the planet as people start withdrawing their money from the banks. Meanwhile, he and his army of shills continue promoting the narrative that these bank failures were caused by regional banking issues and not by the collapse of history's largest Ponzi scheme. They stir up panic and distrust in the traditional banking system and then sell bitcoin as the only safe alternative. I know there's a lot of contention about the Ted and Robin ending. But the other sad focus of the finale was how Robin drifted away from the rest of the gang after her divorce from Barney.
She explains to Lily how even though she still cares about her friends, it's hard to be around the group between her ex-husband, Barney, and her former love interest, Ted, on top of her career.
But between her career calming down a bit, Barney long since moving on from Robin by becoming a single father, and Ted reaching out to her again, the much-hated ending might have the side effect of bridging the gap between Robin and the rest of the group. And I kind of wish the writers had focused on that aspect more - it might have made the planned ending more palatable if Ted was also reaching out to bring Robin back into the fold of the group, more than just trying to romance her. Because Robin wouldn't have become friends with the group in the first place if not for dating Ted.
It can never be like it was in their 20s, of course, since 4/5 members of the group have children to take care of, but it could mean they all grow old together in their own ways.

I have a VHS-2 (Hellion). I have been running a lot of Tulammo steel cased .223 through the rifle. I have experienced many failures to feed. The FTF's occur 2 to 3 times per 30 round PMAG full of Tulammo. I have not experienced this issue with brass .223 and 5.56. I have not tried any other steel cased ammo. My gas setting is on normal. The rifle has also been cleaned and the issue still presents itself.
I am guessing that the Tulammo is not potent enough ensure reliable function. I am curious if anyone else has experienced this issue with their VHS-2?

The FDIC decided to close Signature Bank because they represent āextraordinary riskā. Signature representatives claim that the FDIC shuttered their door due to a anti-crypto stance. What is at least somewhat interesting is, Barney Frank who sat on their board, is an ex-Congressman, and was one of the two men responsible for overhauling the US banking system post-2008. Frank asserts that regulators targeted the bank to send an āanti-crypto message.ā He also spoke about his further post-2008 proposals, as part of the Frank-Dodd act it is inferred, that would have protected more depositors and prevented this situation we find ourselves in today once again, but these proposals did not pass in Congress. The irony is that the exact measures that the Fed, Treasury and FDIC have taken today are exactly what he proposed over a decade ago. Iād think this is the guy to know something about something.
Flash-forward to today, the CEO of JP Morgan had requested a meeting with Fed Jerome Powell and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. This meeting occurred where they ābrainstormed ideasā, with some input from the FDIC head as well. Can you imagine the heads of the FDIC, Treasury and Federal Reserve responding to a request for and hopping on a call to ābrainstorm ideasā with anyone in crypto?
Now I understand this is a bit unfair. The fiat banking system is indeed critical to the economy, but it understates either enormous power and influence, or some perverse incentive for regulators.
What does dig at me though, is the dozens of articles Iāve had to dig through to find that fact reports that JP Morgan, the Fed, Treasury and FDIC did have effectively a closed door meeting, that was all requested by JP Morgan. It just stinks.
Now out of their ābrainstormingā, Bank of America, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo are each depositing $5 billion in First Republic, the banks announced in a statement. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are depositing $2.5 billion each for a total of 30B or so. These deposits are supposedly to be treated like regular deposits, but we know that is 99.9% probably not true. Big banks are going to ensure priority on thor deposits.
Then there was the initial framing of bank failure as cryptoās fault, until they backpedalled when the public who seem still enraged from 2008, just werenāt buying it. Also, the near-collapse of First Republic and the cracking pressure on other non-crypto-friendly banks was just making it clear that wasnāt true. Besides that, buys in the crypto market are making it clear that media would probably just end up alienating their audience.
And then thereās the fact that the bailed out First Republic was said to be in a very similar situation like Signature Bank if not worse, but Signature was closed and First Republic was rescued. Interesting choice. Of course, there are the allegations that Signature asked Signature to stop crypto activity but frankly that is a fairly weak substantiation.
Now, we are seeing banks borrow record highs of 164B from Fed backstop facilities, which do actually come at some cost, which implies that there are actually a lot of stressed banks, probably somewhere close to the position of where Signature and First Republic were. Maybe, it is just a coincidence that Signature was the one that happened to fail first and also happened to be a crypto-friendy bank, even though if it were only given just just one more working day until Monday thereabout, with all the facilities by the FDIC, Treasury and Fed to sure up banks they would have almost absolutely pulled through. This is assuming they would have even failed without forced closure at all.
And I donāt think I even need to start on anything the SEC has done. Meanwhile banks get away with slaps on the wrist from the SEC after their several violations and frauds a year quota, still usually at a profit from the fraud or violationās returns after losses from the fine.
Regulators aside, U.S. legislators demanded details on American banksā connections to cryptocurrency in a letter to Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell back in December. Democratic senators Tina Smith of Minnesota and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts both specifically mentioned Signature Bank and Silvergate..in their warning about the connections between traditional banks and cryptocurrency. Ironically, it was the same Elizabeth Warren who to repeal 2018 rollback of critical Dodd-Frank protections from 2018. In yet another twist of irony, Warren again wrote a letter to seek answers for the Signature Bank collapse, which in reality, was a forced closure rather than a collapse but again the fact that it was a closure rather than a collapse is a key detail being omitted by the majority of news outlets.
On the point of news outlets, I also recently made a post about a very āpro-cryptoā and/or pro-decentralization article by Forbes, that also held government at fault for the current banking collapse, and how the Forbes magically backpedalled days later, and change the article to something that remove the blame on government and regulators.
At this point, youād have to be illogical to at least dismiss the possibility of serious foul play, if not outright manipulation and abuse of power.

Flash-forward to today, the CEO of JP Morgan had requested a meeting with Fed Jerome Powell and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. This meeting occurred where they ābrainstormed ideasā, with some input from the FDIC head as well. Can you imagine the heads of the FDIC, Treasury and Federal Reserve responding to a request for and hopping on a call to ābrainstorm ideasā with anyone in crypto?
Now I understand this is a bit unfair. The fiat banking system is indeed critical to the economy, but it understates either enormous power and influence, or some perverse incentive for regulators.
What does dig at me though, is the dozens of articles Iāve had to dig through to find that fact reports that JP Morgan, the Fed, Treasury and FDIC did have effectively a closed door meeting, that was all requested by JP Morgan. It just stinks.
Now out of their ābrainstormingā, Bank of America, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo are each depositing $5 billion in First Republic, the banks announced in a statement. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are depositing $2.5 billion each for a total of 30B or so. These deposits are supposedly to be treated like regular deposits, but we know that is 99.9% probably not true. Big banks are going to ensure priority on thor deposits.
Then there was the initial framing of bank failure as cryptoās fault, until they backpedalled when the public who seem still enraged from 2008, just werenāt buying it. Also, the near-collapse of First Republic and the cracking pressure on other non-crypto-friendly banks was just making it clear that wasnāt true. Besides that, buys in the crypto market are making it clear that media would probably just end up alienating their audience.
And then thereās the fact that the bailed out First Republic was said to be in a very similar situation like Signature Bank if not worse, but Signature was closed and First Republic was rescued. Interesting choice. Of course, there are the allegations that Signature asked Signature to stop crypto activity but frankly that is a fairly weak substantiation.
Now, we are seeing banks borrow record highs of 164B from Fed backstop facilities, which do actually come at some cost, which implies that there are actually a lot of stressed banks, probably somewhere close to the position of where Signature and First Republic were. Maybe, it is just a coincidence that Signature was the one that happened to fail first and also happened to be a crypto-friendy bank, even though if it were only given just just one more working day until Monday thereabout, with all the facilities by the FDIC, Treasury and Fed to sure up banks they would have almost absolutely pulled through. This is assuming they would have even failed without forced closure at all.
And I donāt think I even need to start on anything the SEC has done. Meanwhile banks get away with slaps on the wrist from the SEC after their several violations and frauds a year quota, still usually at a profit from the fraud or violationās returns after losses from the fine.
Regulators aside, U.S. legislators demanded details on American banksā connections to cryptocurrency in a letter to Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell back in December. Democratic senators Tina Smith of Minnesota and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts both specifically mentioned Signature Bank and Silvergate..in their warning about the connections between traditional banks and cryptocurrency. Ironically, it was the same Elizabeth Warren who to repeal 2018 rollback of critical Dodd-Frank protections from 2018. In yet another twist of irony, Warren again wrote a letter to seek answers for the Signature Bank collapse, which in reality, was a forced closure rather than a collapse but again the fact that it was a closure rather than a collapse is a key detail being omitted by the majority of news outlets.
On the point of news outlets, I also recently made a post about a very āpro-cryptoā and/or pro-decentralization article by Forbes, that also held government at fault for the current banking collapse, and how the Forbes magically backpedalled days later, and change the article to something that remove the blame on government and regulators.
At this point, youād have to be illogical to at least dismiss the possibility of serious foul play, if not outright manipulation and abuse of power.
