I have had a bad experience before with a temp-to-perm job because I was not given the opportunity to interview the client beforehand. If I had known, I would not have taken the job as it turned out to be a short-term position covering someone on surgery for a few weeks.
However, this time I start a new temp-to-perm job tomorrow and I was able to interview with the client beforehand. I asked about the likelihood of the position becoming permanent and the controller, who is the only one in the accounting department, seemed transparent about it. The company is quite small with only 11-30 employees.
If I do well during the next 3 months, I am hoping to be converted to a full-time position. I am currently employed through the staffing agency, Randstad, and I am wondering what the process is like for being converted to full-time. Has anyone here had experience going from temp to perm? Is it an immediate switch, and would I have to go through a new onboarding process now that I am on the client's payroll?

2023.04.27 22:24 Boonadducious Is this a Job Offer I Should Be Concerned About? The Red Flags are Piling Up.

Hello all!
For some background of this issue, I worked five years for a rideshare company in the Safety Department before being laid off last November. I then got another job in February with another tech company where I worked in high-level customer support. I loved the environment, they were excited about me being there, and I was doing great by every metric, but then the team was downsized and I was laid off again - this time in an even worse job environment. They also only gave me thirty days of severance (including my last paycheck) so I don’t have a lot of time to find something before funds run dry.
This has made me pretty depressed, but I have still been working to get my resume to good standards. I have a Master’s in Social Work, but I burned out of that quickly. I was in a Data and Analytics Career Experience at my rideshare job, and through that I realized that was what I really wanted to do. I learned SQL, Tableau, etc, and have been building my portfolio to hopefully get into the field. That said, I know that is an uphill climb with no experience, so I have been applying to the customer service and Trust and Safety jobs I can find.
That brings us to the job offer. I applied to a Randstad USA posting through Indeed, and they got back to me with a questionnaire to present to their board. It was for a Data Analysis job that pays about 55 an hour with a 5000 dollar sign on bonus, so when they got back to me I was sure the questionnaire was just preliminary (especially since there was only two actual data analysis questions) but then they got back to be and said I got the job.
I was taken aback at this, so I immediately became suspicious. That’s a lot of money and a lot of responsibility to give me the job that quickly. I looked into the company and they appear to be legitimate - they are a staffing company primarily, but the offer letter indicated that they were hiring me direct to them.
I went ahead and signed the offer letter after showing it to a couple people. They agreed my concerns were legitimate, but the offer also was straightforward and did not appear to have any gotchas or any high-pressure purchases or sketchy pay scheme. I went ahead and signed it and sent it back with my ID.
After I sent in the letter, they then got back to me and said they needed the name of my bank because they needed to send me a mobile check to purchase equipment from one of their specified vendors. They had mentioned the equipment thing before, but this is a pretty big leap to make. I can handle a shitty environment for a little while until I find something better, but I’m already in a precarious enough situation without being pulled into something sketchy.
Are my concerns legitimate? Is this normal? What should I do going forward?

In the past, I used to submit an Indeed application to jobs posted by staffing agencies for lols. Never know ehat could happen yeah?
I always got the phone "interview" from them which surprised me at first, but it always turned out to be something different.
Would always start with "let's talk about what you're looking for". I'd explain it (basically the job I applied for lol?) and sooner or later they'd just say "hmm. maybe this job isn't the one for you, but I can let you know if we get anything that fits your preferences!".....aaaand I'd never hear from them again.
I've stopped applying for those shitty postings, those "interviews" are so annoying. And they're not ones like randstad, robert half etc. Staffing agencies I've never heard of.

Hello. I want to ask if it is legally possible to get different wage for sale job at same position? I will try to explain my situation.
Right now I am working for agency which is paying me 19.23 € / hour , job is in IT sphere ( datacenter worker) and I am satisfied with it.
Leads however decided that they dont want to work with this agency anymore and after solid few months they come with a solution of using Randstad as staffing platform and DB Schenker as a employer . DB Schenker offered me 13.06 euro / hour for same job position , same location and same amount of working hours , only what they done is that they changed my job title to DC Associate ( Data Center Associate) .
Is this even legal ? Is this worth taking to a lawyecourt?

Feeling nervous about not having job security and getting treated as a second class emplovee since I'd be a contract employee.
Anyone have any tips on working in a contract role at first?? Or converting to an FTE?

I am unfortunately not getting any callbacks, even at staffing agencies like Randstad. Is it possible that the reason I'm not getting any response is because my resume says my last work ended in July 2022 and 5 months have already passed? Should I put down the job I got terminated from and say it was only a contract position for 3 months?
Some background about me: I just moved to Canada about a year ago so I'm only able to put down one Canadian work experience.
