Today the Texas House voted to impeach Texas attorney general Ken Paxton on 20 counts of corruption and bribery, removing him from office temporarily while the Senate prepares to try him.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) sided with Paxton, saying “No attorney general has battled the abuses of the Biden admin more ferociously—and more effectively—than has Paxton.” Former president Trump also backed Paxton, calling the Republican speaker of the Texas House “barely a Republican at all,” and threatened to target any Republican who voted for impeachment.
During the hearing, Republican state representative Charlie Green said that Paxton, too, had been calling representatives to warn them they would suffer political consequences for voting to impeach.
Paxton is a Trump loyalist who after the 2020 presidential election sued Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin to try to stop the counting of their electoral votes, charging that their elections saw widespread fraud. The Supreme Court threw out the case, saying that Texas did not have standing to sue, but not before it attracted the support of 17 state attorneys general and at least 126 members of Congress, including Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
McCarthy is now speaker of the House and beholden to that extremist right-wing. In the fight over raising the debt ceiling so the nation can pay bills already incurred, the extremist Republicans have threatened to default on the nation’s bills in order to force the Democrats to defund their signature measures.
Tonight, President Biden and McCarthy announced they have agreed to a budget deal in principle, opening the way for the House to pass a measure to raise the debt ceiling. Now the key question is: do they have the votes to pass such a measure?
McCarthy continues to appeal to the extremists by attacking Biden, saying inaccurately that the president “wasted time and refused to negotiate for months” when, in fact, it was the Republicans who could not agree on what to bring to the table until April 26. But this may well not be enough; already Kyle Griffin of MSNBC reports that two Republican sources have said that the far right is already balking at the deal and is “plotting ways to gum up passage of the bill or add amendments to make it more appealing to hardliners.”

Good afternoon PFC, currently in a bit of a finance pickle. To begin I'm a 20-year-old male living in the GTA on my own, however, I am returning to college in September and won't be able to work my current high-paying job.
I have no debt other than my car which is currently at 28285.03$ of principal remaining and its 5% interest for the next 6 years (I know a lot however I needed a car within one week last May for work my only option was new unless I wanted to overpay heavy on used).
My current COL is 647.58 (student housing), around 350 a month on groceries, roughly 130 a month on gym and supplements (not up for debate to change), gas is covered by my work mileage, a mind-numbing 420.19 on car payments, and an astronomical 548.16 a month on insurance. Coming to a grand total of 2095.93 a month to live here. No, I do not have any other hobbies than the gym and hiking and no alcohol or partying.
As far as current funds go I have 1855.90 in a chequing account and 5090.55 in a Wealthsimple TSFA invested in cash.to since I don't know where I should put the money. Take-home pay after taxes is rough 687.50 weekly at 37.5 hours a week some weeks I can get over 50 hours just depends on how busy we are and I get 242.50 a week in mileage (I only use about 60$ of it on gas and the GO train). For a grand total of 3720 a month. This means 1624.07 can go into savings or any extras I want.
I know I am not strapped for cash or in too terrible of a position but I can foresee the rough time I will have once I'm having to pay big boy rent and when I return to school and will have to work for minimum wage with fewer hours, so I have a few options.

1. Keep my exact same situation as is and return to school with around 13k in the bank and take OSAP which for me is around 8k and just ride out the year.
2. Keep living in the GTA but opt for a cheaper car, my sale value is around 25k for my car which means I will need to pay the 3 thousandish difference. However, my parent's neighbours are selling their old Civic for around 7.5k which I can insure for 280ish a month. This option will wipe my saving and make me have to borrow a bit from my parents but I will have 720 a month less I will have to spend on a car.
3. Move home to live with my parents and keeping my current car, this will increase my commute time by a bare minimum of 80 minutes a day however I will be saving around 1k a month since no housing cost and no cost of food
4. Moving home to live with my parents and buy the Civic, this would net me around an extra 1700 a month. This would be massive for my savings and is the option I'm most considering.

Pros and Cons time.
Pros of Civic, not having to spend an extra 700 plus a month on a car anymore. Cons of the Civic, I absolutely love my car and all the features inside of it which the Civic just doesn't have.
Pros of moving home, getting to see my parents and saving an extra 1k a month. Cons of moving home, seeing my parents every day and an extra 80 minutes to spend commuting in the car and the train commute stays the same at around 1 hour and 40 a day.
I just need someone to either tell me what is the best course of action because I am unsure right now.
I'm also sure you're wondering why my premium is so high, my insurance address is listed as my parent's house which is in the middle of the country and not the GTA. However, this price is reflecting my G2 driver's license and a tree that fell onto my car while driving which somehow is an at-fault accident since it was only me involved even though I had zero control over it. My premium will drop Monday since I got my G yesterday.
Tldr; Keep spending more money to save 80 minutes a day commuting and driving a nicer car while living alone or move home and buy a cheaper car increasing my commute time but lowering my COL to around 500 a month.

With the sale right now I can get either combo new for around $1,125 with tax and I can’t decide which one I want. I don’t think I’d be disappointed with either one but I need someone to help tip me one way or the other. I have had a lot of cameras in the past Nikon (d3200, d3300, d3500, d7100 (x2), d7200, Z5), Canon (70D), Olympus (M1ii), and Panasonic (G85 (x2)). I sold all my stuff a while ago then picked up another d7100 but I am wanting something newer. This will be my only camera and lens to do a bit of everything, like taking pics of my daughter, our dogs and cats, camping trips, etc. I am really maxing out my budget. The animal AF on the G9 is tempting but I worry about the issues with the 25mm 1.7. I had one in the past but only briefly so I can’t really go by my past experience with it.

With the used car market being the way it is I was thinking of selling my current car and buying a new one.
I have a 2010 jeep compass with 73K miles on it. It’s in good shape (some scratches) but runs great. Do you think I would get over 7K for a trade in value or private sale or am I being too optimistic

I am in US for a couple of weeks and put up in Boston right now. I saw kayaking activities on the Charles river yesterday and got very much interested to try that.
I have never paddled on a kayak, so I am wondering do I need any sort of training? Does the boat house on the esplanade provide quick training before the 2 hour rental?
Any other suggestions? I have had a desire to paddle a kayak for years and looks like it’s available in esplanade so wondering what’s the procedure?

I’m in Slidell visiting some friends and family. We are likely going to go out on my cousins boat a bit later and ride somewhere for dinner. I've been thinking about the ending bars of Prince's Let's Go Crazy and of Van Halen's Ice Cream Man, where they each close the song with an cliched, old-timey chord sequence characterized by an ascending bass and descending lead melody which meet on the fifth.
That progression:
Top note on the root, bass note on the root (Tonic)
Top note down a whole step, bass note up a major third (Dominant 7)
Top note down a half step, bass up half step (VI)
Top note down a half step, bass up half step (I don't know... diminished ii 7?)
Top note down a half step, bass up half step (V)
(Some of you are cracking your knuckles and preparing to type that this is the "Duke Ellington Ending" and I understand that confusion -- this may even be a offshoot of that, but I think we're talking about something different here.)
It seems like the most widely-known preceding example of this ending was in Rock Around the Clock (1954) which imprinted itself on a whole new generation as the theme from Happy Days. And digging more deeply into Bill Haley and the Comets reveals that they ended a lot of tunes with this figure. I'm sort of half-convinced that the influence for its use might be Les Paul and Mary Ford's 1951 recording of How High the Moon in which this series of chords is actually the opening motif.
But none of this addresses the idea of Prince and Van Halen referencing a slower, almost burlesque, rendition of the ending which, to my ears, was presented by both of these artists in an ironic if not outright comedic framework. At least, that's how we intended it back in the late eighties when the bar band I played it stuck it onto the end of our cover of Don't Mean Nothin' by Richard Marx. Full apologies to him.
TLDR; how many songs can you think of that end like Let's Go Crazy by and Ice Cream Man?
