[Found] Footage of the FoxBox mascot DJ Jack recovered! (late 2004 - early 2005)
2023.05.19 05:06 quirky-artist-charli [Found] Footage of the FoxBox mascot DJ Jack recovered! (late 2004 - early 2005)
On Jan 29th of this year, the YouTube account @foxboxarchives2059 uploaded a video containing footage of DJ Jack - the CGI mascot of the American Saturday morning television programming block FoxBox. He sounds like he is voiced by Sean Schemmel.
The video is called “FoxBox Bumper Compilation (Late 2004-Early 2005) Updated as of 1/29/23” and can be viewed here:
https://youtu.be/5R91rgs3_Vo Up until this video upload (and after the character had been retired from the airwaves), I do not believe there was any video footage or image available online of DJ Jack in the flesh. The only evidence I could ever find of DJ Jack’s physical appearance was in the form of Kyle A. Carrozza’s parody video entitled “One Piece of Crap”, and Cartoon-Eric’s DeviantArt drawing entitled “Fox Box Mascot Clobber”:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Eqca_Wc2V0 https://www.deviantart.com/cartoon-eric/art/Fox-Box-Mascot-Clobber-12032951 A YouTube video uploaded in Feb 2015 entitled “Ads from 4Kids One Piece Episode 2 #3” contained footage of famous rapper O’Ryan talking to DJ Jack, who was completely hidden behind a curtain. You get to see one of his CGI eyeballs at the end of their discussion (which starts at about 1:33)
https://youtu.be/2ZRvhc25DPc Two years ago when I made a post in this very subreddit about the FoxBox mascot (whose name I did not know), the redditor FallenHumangel did a bunch of digging and someone in an old internet forum called the mascot DJ Jack, implying that this is his official full name (the videos in this post simply call him “Jack”, including the O’Ryan video, although at the time I had trouble making out that he said his name is “Jack”). Sadly, the forum link does not seem to work anymore, and the Wayback Machine does not appear to have it archived, but this was the URL:
https://animesuperhero.com/forums/threads/the-foxbox-or-4kids-tv.3805641/ I remember DJ Jack being the mascot only in the final months before the programming block rebranded as 4Kids TV. The weeks prior to the introduction of this mascot, there were teasers that used CGI boulders with the message, "Prepare to have your Saturday mornings ROCKED!" One of these teasers can be seen here in this YouTube video entitled “FoxBox "Prepare to have your Weekend Mornings Rocked Promo (2004)”:
https://youtu.be/WkWiJMdFPvo After almost 20 years of knowing this character exists but never being able to see him after he left the airwaves, it feels good that footage of him was finally recovered. I always found it bizarre that a company as well known in the anime community as 4Kids Entertainment - which owned a Saturday morning block that aired for several years - did not have a single image or video of their mascot character online (uploaded by them or by someone else).
EDIT: Upon further inspection, a video of DJ Jack was uploaded earlier - in Aug 2021. It’s called “FoxBox "I Could've Taken Him" Promo (2004) (with HQ Audio)” and can be seen here:

2022.11.29 19:51 MT8624 Sendokai Champions Season 2 English Dub where?
I have looked all over the internet for Sendokai Champions lost season 2 dub and so far it's not going great at all.
I have tried to access the old cartoon network shows to see if the English dub is there but it isn't working.
I have read all the uploads in this subreddit and I can't find anything.
I have gone to the "Lost Media" subreddit and I couldn't find anything leading to any episodes.
There are only 5 episodes that I'm aware of that are in season 2 Sendokai champions,
Sendokai Champions Episode 32 – Kido The Destroyer Sendokai Champions Episode 30 – Yakis Sendokai Champions Episode 29 – Danima Sendokai Champions Episode 28 – A New Adventure Sendokai Champions Episode 27 – A Good Story It was going to be broadcasted to English television The CW's and Vortexx but the English dubbed was uploaded instead to this YouTube channel
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCinkrEYs-Y8V3W9LJ5NDN6g that currently has nothing uploaded.
Youtube has updated the channel links to @(username) instead of channel ID's so searching a YouTube channel in
archive.org is harder now. I searched the link I just put in
archive.org and I clicked the earliest archive and found this:
https://web.archive.org/web/20160222170747/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCinkrEYs-Y8V3W9LJ5NDN6g In this link, you can see that there are two playlists with English dubbed episodes. One contains the first 26 episodes (season 1) English dubbed and the second playlist is the other 26 episodes (season 2) English dubbed.
When I click on the playlist named "SEASON 02" it directs me to the playlist link but in
archive.org. So I copied the original link separated from the archive link and apparently this is the playlist that contains the Season 2 Sendokai Champions English Dub (all 26 episodes).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJayrtA_9Wc&list=PLWIlZnZTo0YA1674xvFHEKAdINkyYXyqV After reading the comments in this link:
https://animesuperhero.com/forums/threads/sendokai-champions-finally-has-a-us-home-but-its-not-televised.5491052/ I have seen that the English dubbed episodes lasted approximately 2 weeks (I think 13-14 days) if not less. Some user announced on Jul 7, 2015 that the English Dubbed episodes were uploaded to the English Sendokai Champions channel. And then another user wrote this on Jul 21, 2015:
"Ah, man...After finishing episode 28, the second episode of Season 2, I noticed that the comments section was "unavailable". So I refreshed the page only to find the episode I just finished watching had gone private." he wrote more, I just wrote the important part.
I have done a lot more searching such as going in Facebook and other social media, and going through most of the internet but I still can't find them.
Forgot to mention, this is the private Season 1 English Dub Sendokai Champions playlist link.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2fDvQdk0UA&list=PLWIlZnZTo0YAv_hz4VAETjPqfb7u02Vsy That is all I can offer, please someone else if I don't find the English Dubbed episodes, try to find them.
Best Regards, MT8624

2022.11.13 16:00 colomb1 Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Co-Producder Josh Fine On How He Would Handle A Spider-man Animated Movie or Series
"For all of Season 1 of AEMH, Spider-Man was off-limits to us, as Sony was still in control of the character for use in animation. If memory serves, the deal to allow Marvel to use the character was finalized after Chris and I had already created, pitched, and been approved on our story skeleton plan for Season 2. As soon as the character became available to us, we immediately made room for a couple of guest appearances in the season; but part of that deal happening was an understanding that a new Spidey series would be getting underway at Marvel immediately (what would become Ultimate Spider-Man.) So Chris and I never had any illusions that our use of the character would amount to anything other than a guest appearance, and I never really even spent energy daydreaming what I would do with the character in a full-blown series until many years after the fact.
As far as what I would do nowadays, if given the chance, I am of two schools of thought:
- Pick a particular favorite story and just do the richest, most satisfying one-off adaptation of it I can, without the need to justify where it falls in a particular continuity. Into the Spider-Verse is an example of this approach being done well. Maximum Carnage is one of my favorite Spidey stories (in part thinks to the good ol' SNES game), and I could see doing a pretty dark, twisted version of it as a movie with a PG-13 Hulk Vs. level of violence. This would result in a one-off film as opposed to a series.
- To really do Spider-Man justice in an ongoing animated series, I would be inclined to start from the beginning, aim classic, and pull from stories throughout Spider-Man comic-dom (basically the same approach as both AEMH and Spec Spidey.) How would retelling Spider-Man's origin and starting from the beginning be any different than anything else we've seen done with the character a hundred times now? All I can do is lean on an old writer's adage, that even if two creators start with the exact same premise, their final products will inevitably be radically different from one another. No two storytellers are the same, and so no two of their stories will be either. I realize that's an incredibly vague answer, but I think the alternative would be hanging the series upon a particular gimmick or framing it around a single over-blown storyline--both of which, in Spidey's case, would in my mind do him a disservice. Ideally for me, developing a brand new Spider-Man series would happen in conjunction with building a true Marvel Animated Universe from the ground up--so that, in and of itself, would allow it to tell classic adaptations of stories that still went places that Spectacular was barred from going."

2022.07.04 02:51 idkwhat-toputhere don't wanna be obnoxious asking this but I have questions about the watch order of the whole DCAU... (please)
so, scrolling a bit through this subreddit I've found multiple different orders in which people say to watch the whole DCAU, so far I'm only on episode 41 of BTAS, but I've seen a lot of people mention that a) release on TV order and production order are different, and that b) neither of those is necessarily chronological. I'm watching on HBOMAx and its order is almost exactly the same as the airing order that BTAS wikiFandom has (found
here) (only difference is that a few of the episodes in two parts did not air one after another, but HBO does put them next to each other)
one of the top comments on
this post, gives a fairly thorough explanation of the whole DCAU, but does not say to watch the episodes of any of the shows in any particular order. then
this article gives a whole other order that's a lot more complicated. and lastly, a comment on the post I referred to earlier links to
this fanmade timeline that's even more complicated because it goes episode by episode and includes comics and god knows what else.
tbh, if it were for me I'd just follow the order of the comment on the post I linked, since I don't really think chronology matters
all that much in the DCAU, as long as I don't watch JLU before anything else, or STAS before BTAS, to name random examples of things that'd definitely be wrong. I don't mind watching some seasons of a show and then having to interrupt that to go watch some seasons of another and then go back to the first, or watching longer films in-between seasons, but I don't want to come across the realisation halfway through the whole thing (DCAU) that I've been doing it totally wrong and that I'm missing a lot of information or spoiling myself stuff.
So I guess what I'm trying to ask is, is the order of the comment on that post good enough (linking again
here)? will I truly miss on anything important if I don't watch the DCAU in the most chronologically accurate way? and finally, are the episodes of all of these shows on HBOMax arranged in an acceptable enough manner (assuming that they're all arranged according to air date)?

2022.05.30 09:38 FoulPapers Is the original version of the Cybernetic Ghost episode lost media?
Some of the details here might be off, and this could turn into a bit of a ramble, so apologies if my post about The Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past from the Future turns into a convoluted Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past-esque tail itself:
- On December 29, 2002 the Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past from the Future first aired. In this version of the ep his voice has a tinny filter with a ton of echo over it. It sounds completely deranged and like his dated tech from "the future" could fall apart any minute. Although I can't speak for other regions, this is the version that aired in Canada countless times, and the one I'm familiar with. The character's future appearances in "The Last One" and the movie more or less sound like this. It's wonderful.
- On July 20, 2004 the second DVD volume of ATHF was released. This version of the ep features re-recorded lines by Matt Maiellaro where Cybernetic Ghost now speaks without the filter. Here he sounds vaguely sinister and somewhat lucid, which I would argue hurts the comedy. Apparently this was done because some people couldn't understand the original version. Here's a guy from 2004 complaining about it. I feel a kinship with this man.
Having two versions of the same ep is kind of interesting to compare, but unfortunately as far as I can tell this isn't really possible anymore outside of a few scattered clips. All of the "canonized" streaming versions (and what's been uploaded on other corners of the web) seem to use the DVDs as the source. Even though the original version of the ep is more in line with future appearances by the character, the less-pathetic imposter version of Cybernetic Ghost has won out.
...Unless I'm wrong! Does anyone know if there's a quality version of the original version of the episode available anywhere? It's my favourite episode of the show no matter how you slice it, but man would I love to rewatch the version I first grew attached to.
***UPDATE**\*
Thanks to everybody weighing in, here's what I've determined:
The Original Echo-y, Filtered Version - Original airings,
adultswim.com stream, HBO Max, iTunes, the version available to purchase on YouTube... The majority of official ways to currently see it actually seem to have reverted back to this.
The Revised, Clearer-Voiced Version - Vol. 2 of the DVDs (but NOT the commentary track for some reason), certain post-2004 airings(?),
archive.org, current circulations of pirated versions and unofficial streams, most YouTube clips.
????? - The 20-disc "Complete Collection" set coming out in July
In classic Cybernetic Ghost fashion, it looks like some key aspects in my wall of information were wrong. Could not have worked out better, really. Thanks, everyone!

2022.04.25 21:09 zeyonaut Is Hawkgirl actually a reincarnation of Chay-Ara?
As you may know, Dwayne McDuffie was a writer of one of the episodes of the Ancient History arc. On seeing people arguing that the reincarnation was real, he had this to say:
Reincarnated? I keep reading this all over the net. Did no one actually watch "Shadow of a Doubt"[sic] and "Ancient History"? The Absorbacron is a broken database! Hawkgirl told you!
Arrrgggh!

Season Five

- Descent
- Graduation Day
This will probably be my preferred list but I'd love to know what thoughts people have on it. And if there are any inconsistencies with the production order that I should know about. I'm done with my research now, it's been fun.
EDIT 3: So the comic did provide one lovely thing, the production numbers for each episode. It is actually the same as what Stephen Melching provided in that link I believe. Arguably better than the script order as a lot can change between that process and production (Lotus and the Steel for example has a flashback to the Weapon X episode, this fixes that continuity error).
EDIT 2: Something interesting I noticed is that the release order is different from the one on wikipedia. And it puts The Unstoppable Juggernaut at episode 10 just like on Disney Plus! I guess the Disney Plus order isn't as random as all that.
EDIT: Sorry everyone, I have no idea where that order came from but I can confirm that it is NOT the list featured in the comic Adventures of the X-Men. In fact the list in the comic simply lists the episodes in order of their release. I'd love to know the origin of this order if anyone has any idea. If it has no official source then maybe the first list by Stephen Melching is best? What a clusterf***
Source:
https://www.google.co.uk/books/edition/Adventures_Of_The_X_Men/jv2dDwAAQBAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=x-men+episode+guide&pg=PT181&printsec=frontcover I've seen a lot of debate about the watch order. There's the broadcast order, script order, and how it currently is on Disney+. But after some googling I found another order.
https://animesuperhero.com/forums/threads/foxkids-x-mens-real-episode-guide-and-production-order.3034321/ Skip past the first list which is script order I believe and there's another order. Apparently this is the official Marvel record of the correct order. Does anyone have any information on this? Can it be trusted? Here is the order:
Edit: (I originally had the order here but I've erased it because I can't find a source. If you're interested it's in the link above)

2022.02.01 06:49 farhanganteng Will Toonami airing less anime in the future ?
After the news of Toonami won't get Demon slayer S2 because of Sony and the success of Mugen Train movie, I have a feeling that Toonami will show less anime in the future and focus on CR & Adult Swims originals, Classics titles like Cowboy Bebop and Yuyu Hakusho and western action like DC Superheroes, Batman, Justice League, Young Justice & other Cartoon Network actions shows maybe because many people request it on Dermaco's tweet or discuss about it on many forums such as Animesuperhero, Gamefaqs and this Subreddit.
I remember back then, Toonami helping anime more popular in US TV broadcast. And thanks to the revival and Space Dandy, 2010's is the Golden age for Toonami , there lots of possibilities like many new titles on Funimation, CR, Aniplex, VIZ and Sentai titles pop up on Toonami such as SSSS Gridman, One Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100, Shokugeki no Souma, Akame Ga Kill, POP Team Epic, Boruto and people talk about anime and spelucate which show should be aired on Toonami on this subreddit's monthly prediction & speculation.
If some Funimation and Aniplex titles were expensive to Demarco, why they cant just aired more Crunchyroll & Sentai's dubbed shows ? recently Toonami was air Made in Abyss and its was good, but there lots of Crunchyroll & Sentai's undubbed titles, maybe Toonami can dubbed and aired it but that was just my opinion & speculation.

2022.01.20 19:17 Boop54 Evil Barry - Possible Mandela Effect!?
Please tell me I'm not alone in this... I could SWEAR that when Evil Barry first appeared, he was voiced by Cary Elwes. I have a vivid memory of this - and it made the Princess Bride reference at the end of the episode that much better. Rewatching the episode now, it is very clearly Craig Ferguson. I have found some evidence to support that it was Cary Elwes originally - but really nothing concrete (

2021.04.26 04:43 Faboover I am looking for an Old OG Ben 10 Promo from CN most likely for S2
Back in 2006, there was a Ben 10 S2 Promo on Cartoon Network that used Daft Punk’s “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” as the music track for the promo. 2021.04.11 09:12 SwitchGod16 I know a piece of lost media that NOBODY has ever heard of.
(UPDATE) I was wrong about this pilot being sent via email, so that's my bad. It was actually sent by regular mail to my mom as a sort of focus group type of deal. The kids would watch this tape, and there was a survey that the parents would fill out. Also, HUGE props to abecedaire for finding the following link that may be mentioning this pilot! (
https://animesuperhero.com/forums/threads/rejected-disney-pilots-over-the-past-few-years.4919651/)
(UPDATE 2) AND THIS CONCEPT ART! (
https://redwind.typepad.com/antonio-toro-design/2011/06/designs-for-wild-brains-duck-on-a-bike.html)
If I had any images or videos of this, believe me, I would show you folks. But I can't, which I'll get to later. When I was a very young child living in my old house, I used to own a lot of VHS tapes of all kinds of shows from Sesame Street to Blue's Clues. However, the biggest anomaly of my little VHS collection was a bit different. This VHS is based off of the book "Duck on a Bike" by David Shannon. I know you're thinking that I'm talking about a narration of the story with the illustrations in the background as expected, but no. This was a pilot episode for an animated series based off the book, different voice actors and all. I don't remember seeing a title card for this cartoon, but I do know there were no credits. The art style was somewhat different to the actual book which was a lot more detailed and hand painted. Here, the art style was more simplistic. I only recall a few things about this pilot, such as this one kid on a bike singing Born to be Wild, and the other animals watching the duck ride on his bike. This part of which, I'm sure was in the book. As for the story, I'm sure it simply followed the plot of the original book as well, with a few new stuff possibly. Now, why is this pilot nowhere to be found online? Well, I recently learned from my mom that this was a form of pitch pilot that was sent via email. Meaning a few other people must have ordered this tape as well. She was sent the tape at some point in my childhood, but now, we can't find this tape anywhere. We think it may have never left our old house. Of course, given that NOTHING remains of this pilot online, it's safe to assume the pilot was never picked up as well. I know 100% that I'm not falsely remembering the existence of this, because my mom remembers this pilot as well. Even if this is never found, if the existence for the pilot of Duck on a Bike can be shared some more, and if this garners people's attention to the point that they're interested in finding this as well, that will be greatly appreciated.

2021.03.20 23:41 Foodin065 Regarding the Third Season of the English Duel Masters Anime on Toonami
Hello all DM fans,
A while ago I made a post asking about the elusive third season of the English Duel Masters dub, and how the final few episodes of the third season could not be found anywhere online in their complete form. Upon doing some further research, it seems that the final three episodes of English Duel Masters (Episodes 63-65)
never even aired on Toonami. It seems all we have of these episodes are unfinished snippets, and nothing more. When I first began looking into the third Duel Masters season, I had assumed that all of the English Duel Masters episodes had actually aired on Toonami, based on the following schedule from the Toonami fandom website:
No. | Episode Title | Airdate |
53 | "Showdown!" | February 4, 2006 |
54 | "Babytalk" | February 11, 2006 |
55 | "Fourscore" | February 18, 2006 |
56 | "Frotime" | February 25, 2006 |
57 | "Duelusional" | March 4, 2006 |
58 | "Duel-ercise" | March 11, 2006 |
59 | "Triple-Threat" | April 29, 2006 |
60 | "Surprise!" | May 6, 2006 |
61 | "Cheatery" | May 13, 2006 |
62 | "Makeover" | May 20, 2006 |
63 | "Switcharoo" | May 27, 2006 |
64 | "Creeptastic" | June 10, 2006 |
65 | "Finalitousness" | June 17, 2006 |
However, after looking into it some more, it seems that the above schedule was only what was
planned, not what actually aired. It seems that the actual Duel Masters schedule began one week earlier than the above (so episode 53 "Showdown!" aired on January 28, 2006 rather than February 4, 2006), and, more importantly, the final three Duel Masters episodes were never even broadcast. The last Duel Masters episode to be broadcoast on Toonami was Episode 62 "Makeover" on May 13, 2006 from 7:00-7:30 P.M. Eastern Time, which was the usual Duel Masters timeslot on Toonami. The Toonami lineup on that day was as following:
Broadcast Time | Series |
7:00 P.M. | Duel Masters |
7:30 P.M. | Dragon Ball Z |
8:00 P.M. | Teen Titans |
8:30 P.M. | Naruto |
9:00 P.M. | Naruto |
9:30 P.M. | One Piece |
10:00 P.M. | Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo |
10:30 P.M. | Justice League Unlimited |
On the following Saturday, May 20, 2006, Duel Masters was replaced in its 7:00 P.M. timeslot by Teen Titans, and this continued on May 27, 2006. Then, on June 3, 2006, Toonami premiered a new series called Pokémon Chronicles and placed it in the 7:00 P.M timeslot. This new Pokémon show would prove to be quite popular and would remain the opening piece of Toonami's Saturday night lineup up through October 2006. Duel Masters was nowhere to be seen, and the final three episodes of the third season (if they were even completed) were totally forgotten.
Here is a thread from another forum dated to June 3, 2006 concerning the Duel Masters anime on Toonami. The responses on that thread seem to confirm my suspicions that the series went on an indefinite hiatus after Episode 62 without airing the final three episodes.
I hope this post has been useful, and has cleared up some questions regarding the mysterious third season of English Duel Masters. Unfortunately, it seems we will never get to see the complete versions of those final three Duel Masters episodes.

2021.03.04 16:38 Thebunkerparodie I don't agree with bruce timm on this one
"I can't even look at [BTAS] anymore. I look at them now and can't believe how ugly they are … how slow they are." from
https://animesuperhero.com/forums/threads/what-happened-to-bruce-timms-style.2935181/ I don't think they were that slow in batman TAS and I don't think the character looked ugly either. I remember reading that he said the character looked too fat, but I don't think they do. I do agree with him that with the streamlined look ,the animation was better or at least more consistent in TNBA(TAS had some problem and the animation quality changed from studio to studio but I didn't really noticed it)
