Hello! I would like to ask for some advice.
My budget is around 30-40k and I'm looking to get a GCC spec car (ideally something 2013+. Is this a bit unrealistic?).
. Might be a bit much to ask but I'm looking for something a bit on the modern-looking side.
Here are some cars that I've been scouting for:
Nissan Altima, Maxima
Honda Accord
Kia Optima
Hyundai Sonata.
If anyone has extra ideas or could point me in the right direction I'd super appreciate it!!

2023.05.25 20:43 MONKEY___D___ICK Optima Engine Replacement

I have a 2016 Optima SXL. Last week in the middle of the highway my check engine light came up and heard knocking noises from the Engine. I drove 20Km on Limp mode to the nearest Auto repair and they diagnosed a failed connecting rod. I got the vehicle towed paying 400$ out of my pocket to Northland Kia. I called Kia customer care regarding this and they told me if the problem is with Engine I will receive a free engine replacement, my towing expenses will be reimbursed and I will get a rental vehicle till my car is ready. After dropping the car at Kia Northland on Friday after closing they diagnosed the issue is indeed with Engine on Tuesday. And they are refusing to provide me with a rental vehicle too... They claim that they are waiting from approval from Kia which could take a couple of weeks, and even after approval I will only qualify for a rental if the engine is in backorder. So basically I have to be without a car for 2 months at least. I am a student working multiple jobs and I recently bought this car on financing and Right now I am in a terrible situation as I have to get an Uber to commute to work.
I wanted an opinion on this from people who have had experience with getting Engine replaced.

Was preferring Hyundai Sonata, but there are so many reports of engine issues/failure for this model.
Currently, a honda civic/city user. Not sure about which brand is better and cheaper to maintain among Kia and Hyundai.
Any other suggestions or user experience on these cars would be of great help.

2023.05.24 00:14 tatorthegr8r 2013 Kia Optima Front Wheel Click

My Optima has developed a click in the right front wheel that only happens after being driven at interstate speeds for 10-15 minutes. It sounds almost like something is scraping in the break heat shield, but I can’t find any visible contact. After it starts it’s usually noticeable accelerating up to 30 mph and then I can’t hear it anymore until I slow down and get under 30ish mph. Over the weekend I was able to get the vehicle up in the air fast enough after driving around to freely spin the wheel and replicate the sound. It did happen in the same spot every time as the wheel was rotating but stopped in less than 5 minutes after I got it in the air. Based on that, I’m assuming it’s heat driven? There is slight side to side movement in the wheel that I believe is coming from the tie rod end at the wheel but no vertical movement from what I can tell. I’ll replace the tie rod end, but I don’t believe that’s the culprit. The fact that it seems to be heat driven makes me think it’s a bearing of some sort? I wondered about the CV axel, but the noise happens regardless of the direction and does not change. I initially replaced the breaks and cleaned up the rotors because they needed to be replaced anyway and I thought that might have been it, but wasn’t. What are your thoughts?

2023.05.23 19:54 m6490 2013 Kia optima hybrid check charging system

Was driving yesterday got the “check hybrid system pull over and do not drive” it also goes between that and “check charging system” I ran the check engine light and no power train codes come back but c1688 did show up. The car will start, but as soon as it is out into drive you can feel it try and inch forward before the error pops up again. The battery died after sitting over night as well but does still jump and idles. I didn’t see any broken belts or anything…..help?

Hi All,
Looking for some advice/words of wisdom/direction.
Iv owned BMWs for about 13 years now. I owned pretty much mostly 90s early 2000s BMWs. The newest BMW I have owned to date was a 2014 435 that I sold right before the market started its run up during 2020. I miss that car.
Now I currently own a E53 X5 (M54) as a daily...which was supposed to be a flip...but I ended up liking it, and I figured I wont be able to buy another low mileage (at the time 65k mile) E53 X5... with pretty much everything done to it... (I did everything... I sunk too much money into the car lol). I also own a 1991 BMW 850.... I have owned it since 2016... and did a LOT of work to it. My dad owned it in a project car state from 2011 to 2016....so this car has been in the family for a long time and it aint going anywhere anytime soon.
Long story short, I am here today to see what you guys have to say. Iv been itching for a new fun or a new daily driver. More or so fun daily driver. I feel like the opportunity is finally here to get either a ///M car finally or I end up pretty much doing the responsible thing... and buy a new Toyota/Mazda/Honda or something.
As for the BMW cars that are peaking my interest right now are the following: E90/E92 M3 (with the DCT), M4 (2016-2018), M2, a M240i, a G30 540i, F32 (but one of the last years of the chassis with the B58) or a Third/Fourth Gen X5 (the 6 cylinder turbo) and the E89 Chassis Z4. If I end up getting a X5....well the current X5 would go.
My other non-BMW choices of vehicles would be like a new Mazda CX-50, a brand new Toyota Tacoma (the new gen that was just announced) or something from Mercedes. But I don't even know what I would really get from Mercedes. My dad owned a AMG before, so I know those are fun. But I also know Benzes difficult to work on, by difficult...I mean there is a whole lotta BS compared to BMWs.
What do you guys suggest/ recommend? What are your experiences with those cars I mentioned above? I don't plan on tracking/racing any of the cars mentioned above, but who knows?! Maybe ill find an excuse to do a track day.
Some side notes:
The E53 X5 is honestly great... I might end up keeping it as a spare car given the fact its basically bullet proofed and It checks the box of "winter car" and "practical car"... I installed a OEM BMW/Westfalia tow hitch on it....you know... just incase. I also installed a Avin Avant 4 unit to bring the E53 to at least like 2013 spec to have apps/apple car play. I did also install a back up camera...because why not.
My 850 is my "baby", but its an on going project still. I did and still daily the car for long periods of time during summeearly fall but I noticed that its usually kills the "fun" factor for me with the car. Iv worked and been around this car for about 12 years now. So you can imagine that eventually...the fun factor or the enjoyment wears off. Dont get me wrong, I still love the car but it just does not bring the same level of "LETS GO OUT AND DRIVE WITH NO DESITATION" excitement as it used to.
When I had my F32, it was stock. When I flipped flopped driving both cars and got back into my F32...the F32 felt like a damn rocket. The 850 didn't feel "slow" necessarily the fun part was that I could mash the gas and not get in trouble and make V12 noises.
Im open to other suggestions as well. I would prefer a DCT/ZF-8 Speed vehicle. No manuals this time around. I didnt mention the SMG only because I hear mixed things about it.

Sorry if this is the wrong sub but I could not find one about selling cars.
It has 104k miles on it and carmax offered $6400 but does the car have more value if the engine is new? I am the only owner of the car and have treated it with love the entire time and its in great condition and I have the records of taking care of all maintenance as scheduled at the dealership.....which is why the engine replacement was pretty much insta cleared.
Not trying to rip anyone off but just wanna make sure I dont get ripped off.

Currently drive a BMW 116i 2013 but I’m not happy about the amount of repairs and maintenance so I’m thinking of getting a new car.
I usually drive between 30-100km per week so I’m under the impression that a hybrid like the Optima would be good. Concerningly ive heard about the recall that Kia did for most Optimas so now im thinking should i stick with this or go with something else?

Not sure if this is the right place for this kind of question but was wanting to sell my car because I ended up buying a new one after the engine blew up on the optima. KIA replaced the engine for free and I have no need for 2 cars. The car is in great shape with just dings and scraps from people hitting it with their doors and only has 104K miles on it.
Wanted to ask for some advice because of the new engine on an old car and I figured it would be worth more then the internet is telling me.
Edmunds is telling me carmax would give me $6400 for it but the new engine itself is almost worth that.

I have a 2020 Niro EV and actively troll this group with envy. When I got my Niro, I was happily surprised that my insurance cost didn't change much at all when compared with my previous car (2013 Kia Optima). When I was getting quotes for insurance on a Tesla M3, the cost was double of what I was paying with the Kia.
All that being said, how has your insurance premium changed since buying the EV6? Maybe state whether you got the GT as I imagine that could be more costly to insure than a Wind.

Hi, I have a 2013 kia optima, My ac is blowing hot air. When I turn the ac on, the cooling fan was not turning on, but it starts to work, when the engine is heating up. So the fan is good. I could not find an ac comp relay in the fuse box, but the 40amp fuse tested ok. I checked the pressure at the low side it found out to be pretty low, So I filled up the refrigerant to adequate pressure and it was still blowing hot air. I thought the pressure switch went bad, So I tried to bypass it, and suddenly the cooling fan starting to work when I turned the ac on. But no cold air. Does it mean my pressure switch is bad? If thats the case, when I bypassed it, I should get cold air. I have no way of knowing if the compressor is running or not, because of the absence of an outside clutch. What should I do now to find the main problem?

I’m getting ready to get a new car after having my Kia Sorento EX for the last 7 years. Being a parent has made me appreciate the space of the Sorento, but I need something a little better on gas and something with a little more get-up-and-go. I’ve never driven the Mazda3, but I did drive a Veloster as a rental for work years ago and I’ve thought about that car ever since.
I’m not looking for anything too terribly “sporty”. The car will be a daily driver, and I think I’m more interested in the specs more than the drive itself. Though again, I would appreciate something that is actually fun to drive. I’ve heard many people with positive things to say about the Veloster Turbo options but those are unfortunately out of my price range.
I’ve seen Mazdas everywhere lately and heard lots of good things about them, but haven’t been able to get a good idea of the Veloster Premium’s owner experience.
Things to note •I’m 5’4” so I’m not as worried about size •My child is 4 now, so not as much of a need for extra space to cater to a stroller, rear-facing car seat, diaper bag, etc •Hoping to do more maintenance on my own when possible, so looking for something that will be a bit easier to do that

I know of both the fleece cheetah and bd screamer turbos but have any of you had first hand experiences with the turbo time stage 3 669 turbo? I know all 3 of the ones I named are all off the same frame and about the same spec wise and cost about the same as well but I am just curious if anyone has any helpful info to help me make a decision that will be good longterm.
