2023.03.21 06:29 UpbeatAd4038 Should I build a bike from the frame up?
Hello!
Starting in early May, I'm planning on cycling from Washington DC to Seattle, and then doing another self-supported tour from the Arctic Circle (tuktayuktuk, canada) back down to the United States via the dempster highway and potentially down to Argentina if all goes well.
Aside from patching a flat tire adjusting canti brakes, and a general understanding of bikes, I'm helplessly unaware of what is going on in most parts of my bicycle.
Currently, I own a trek mountain-track 850. I think it's fit to take across the country, but I definitely wouldn't trust it to take me on a remote tour. There are unfixable issues with it (the frame rear eyelet's threading has broken off, so a single measly roughly fitting bolt is holding one side of my rack in place). I'd really like to up my bike repair skills such that I understand pretty much every piece of my bike.
I am friendly with the local bicycle co-op, and hopefully, if I ask they will let me use their tools/space. I have questions for advice.
- I have a really low budget, ~$600, maybe a bit over if necessary. It seems like there are so many random tools that if I am building one bicycle will add up to be inefficient and expensive (e.g. dial calipers to measure fit for parts). If I don't have access to tools and need to buy them on my own, will it even be worth it?
- I only bought my trek mountain-track for $40 bucks, and probably spent another $100 on a new chain, new rear wheel, etc. I have heard that vintage steel mountain bike frames are a great budget base for touring bicycles. Should I just ditch the frame I have right now because of the eyelet problem and scrap some of the components over to a new build, starting with a similar vintage trek frame?
- Will I be able to build this bicycle within a month, is this a reasonable timeline if I put in a couple of hours every day?
- Is it it bad to use used parts? local bike co-op has used parts that are super super cheap.

2023.03.21 06:06 SweetBillyHeat Is destro lock hard to play?
I’m a PvP scrub who mains DK. I want to try a ranged caster and lock looks fun.
I love Frost DK for its simplicity - grab, blind, stun, dead. Rotation is simple as hell.
Unholy DK is more annoying but frankly, game outcomes are better. You consistently pump out damage and never die. Anything that runs into me during world pvp will die. I can take on groups of 5 poor souls trying to quest. But… I find it annoying to keep up diseases, chains, DND, and track festering wounds all the time while cc’ing at the right time. It also doesn’t feel great having like 7 buttons on GCD for setting up max damage.
Worst of all, I hate trying to effectively bind arena target macros. Grip, stun, kick, silence, pet leap, pet stun. I find doing this effectively is required to win games and it’s just too annoying for me to be comfortable with.
How does destro lock (or other meta lock specs) compare? Are their pets just as annoying to use effectively? I read the icyveins overview and the play style sounded fun. I know there’s a fair amount of things you need to keep track of and that I’m going to be constantly chased by melee classes, but exhausting the enemy’s cooldowns with cc to set up huge chaos bolt bursts seems like something I’d enjoy pulling off. I also feel like I’ll develop better PvP habits as a caster who is being targeted often. Playing DK kinda lets me get away with a lot of shit and build bad habits.
Open to other suggestions like spriest or mage. I tried balance druid in demo and said fuck that. Just read a lengthy thread explaining why devoker blows as well. For reference, I’m 1600 in 2’s and my highest rank was 1800 in SL season 1.

2023.03.21 06:02 zhoq Don Quixote - Volume 1, Chapter 28
Which treats of the new and agreeable adventure that befell the priest and the barber in the Sierra Morena. Prompts: 1) What did you think of the party’s reaction to meeting Dorotea?
2) What did you think of her story?
3) Why did Don Fernando make all these promises, and several times repeat them, only to immediately break them?
4) I’ll ask the same I asked about Cardenio: do you relate to Dorotea and her reaction to her misfortune or do you criticise her decision to run out into the desert?
5) Dorotea places emphasis on her family’s social class, so far as blaming it for her misfortunes (“my misfortunes arise from their not being nobly born”). What do you make of that?
6) Lucinda has disappeared too! Has she run into the desert as well?
7) Favourite line / anything else to add?
Free Reading Resources: Illustrations: - turning the corner of a rock, they espied a youth dressed like a peasant
- Having made an end of washing his beauteous feet, he immediately wiped them with a handkerchief, which he pulled out from under his cap;
- and, at the taking it from thence, he lifted up his face, and the lookers-on had an opportunity of beholding an incomparable beauty (coloured)
- shaking his head, there began to flow down and spread over his shoulders a quantity of lovely hair, that Apollo himself might envy
- her feet in the water seemed to be of crystal
- at the rustling they made in getting upon their feet, the beautiful maiden raised her head -
- - and, parting her hair from before her eyes, -
- - saw those who had made the noise
- “Stay, madam, whoever you are”
- the riches and nobility they valued themselves most upon, was having me for their daughter
- here I offer you my hand and my heart
- and let the Heavens be witness
- Don Fernando, taking the image that stood in the room, and placing it for a witness of our espousals, with all the solemnity of vows and oaths, gave me his word to be my husband (coloured)
- “What! madam, is your name Dorothea?”
- in the dead of that very night, I left our house, accompanied only by my servant, and took the way that led to the town on foot
- The town crier announces a reward for finding Dorotea
- with the little strength I had, and without much difficulty, -
- - I pushed him -
- - down a precipice, -
- - where I left him, I know not whether alive or dead. (coloured)
- where no memory might remain of this wretched creature

Past years discussions: Final line: ‘[..] I say, then, I again betook myself to these deserts, where, without molestation, I might beseech heaven with sighs and tears to have pity on my disconsolate state, and either to assist me with ability to struggle through it, or to put an end to my life among these solitudes, where no memory might remain of this wretched creature, who, without any fault of hers, has ministered matter to be talked of, and censured, in her own and in other countries.'

2023.03.21 05:56 sirenspear_nft A few questions about suppressors:
Alright, I need some help here.
I bought a Q Honeybadger SD, and a Q Honeybadger Pistol with a Q Thunderchicken to go with it. I'm still waiting for the SD and Thunderchicken, but I had a couple of questions that I'm actually struggling to find answers for online.
I own some earlier AAC gear before they turned into Q. Namely, their Remington collaboration that produced the Micro 7. A .300 blackout bolt action gun with a threaded barrel.
My questions are:
Will this Q Thunderchicken work with my Q The Fix?
Is it possible to slap that Q Thunderchicken on the threaded barrel of the Micro 7?
Is it possible to use the SD suppressor with the pistol variant if I remove the cherry bomb?
What's the best suppressor I can buy for my CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical 9MM? As it already has a threaded barrel and raised optics.
Thanks so much!

2023.03.21 03:03 JustHereForTheGuns [WTS] Parts Bag Cleanout - Crye JPC, Magnifier, Glock Barrels, Spyderco Delica, Crye Shirt, Surefire Light, etc., etc. Come Take A Gander
Howdy, y'all. I've been dogshit at reposting all this stuff, and now there's more stuff, so here goes. More or less in order of most to least expensive. If you want to bundle some shit, let me know and we can work out a discount. If you REALLY want something and want to shoot your shot, go for it. I want this out of my house.
https://imgur.com/a/GMZWJUe - Crye JPC 1.0 Multicam, Large. Includes mag retention inserts if you want to use this without the bungee pull tabs. $225 shipped and insured.
- Primary Arms SLx Full Size Magnifier on Vortex Micro mount. Genuinely the best magnifier on the market. Unfortunately it just doesn't work with my Unity FTC, so it has to go. $200 shipped and insured.
- Surefire Glock 17 Threaded Barrel. Made by Zev. Nearly new and unused. Tried to fit it on a pistol and it didn't work. It's my understanding these work in Gen 1-4 Glock 17s, but not 5. $150 shipped and insured
4. Ballistic Advantage M4 Profile 14.5" Barrel. New and unused. Will include a barrel nut, end cap, and A2 FH. If you want an M4gery and provide a new FSB, I can mate the two for you and assemble it, too. $120 shipped and insured. If you ship parts in for assembly/work, we can work out a deal. 5. Stormwerkz/Manticore Arms AK Stock. Don't know much about AKs and no longer own one, so don't need this. $110 shipped and insured. - Spyderco Delica Wharncliffe with Wise Men Company Fang. In-laws got me an Emerson Delica for Christmas. Don't need this anymore. $110 shipped and insured.
- Crye Drifire Field Shirt. Large regular. Includes Airflex elbow pads. Had name tapes and badges sewn on. Those have been removed. $110 shipped and insured.
- Zaffiri Precision Glock 19 Threaded Barrel. Unknown round count, don't have thread protector anymore. $100 shipped and insured.
- Surefire E2T-MV Tactician. Great EDC light, but I can make do with a Macrostream for most tasks. $95 shipped and insured.
- Shadow Systems DR920 Trigger. Had 200 rounds or so through it before I upgraded to an Alpha trigger. Nonetheless, a nice upgraded Glock 17-pattern trigger. $95 shipped and insured.
- Agilite Pincer Placard. Just didn't like the overhang of the chest rig loops and went back to a Daeodon. Nonetheless one of the best mag shingles on the market and the fact it allows you to adjust the ride height is very nice. $60 shipped and insured.
- Crye cummerbund off a JPC 2.0. It came off a large carrier, so I think this is the L/XL setup. $50 shipped and insured.
- Massif combat shirt, OCP, medium. $45 shipped and insured.
- Truglo Glock 19 Night Sights. Don't let the packaging fool you, they're not Ameriglos. Will also install these for you if you'd like. $45 shipped and insured.
15. Arisaka Inline Scout Mount. Very mild wear. $35 shipped and insured. - Microbat Systems Tentacle Lanyard in multicam black. 2 available. $30 shipped and insured.
17. Safariland UBL and QLS. Would prefer to sell as a package. $30 for both, $20 a piece? Not 100% sure on these. - Magpul MOE FDE handguard. Midlength and carbine available. $30 shipped and insured each.
- Some kind of belt-mounted multicam IFAK. $25 shipped and insured.
- Black A2 grips. Free in any package, just ask for one in addition to anything else you want to buy.
