2023.03.21 09:19 dirkgonnadirk Want to get laminate/hybrid, but floor isn’t flat
This is probably a common tale…
My house is double brick, 100 years old and is on brick piers with wooden joists and bearers. Floorboards are in good condition.
With the help of this forum I did a Jack and pack on one of the rooms already. It’s probably not level whatsoever, but I stopped the floor boards bouncing and reduced the gaps between the skirt and the floorboards. I was only laying gym mats so I didn’t really care too much whether it was level. I would consider the whole thing a success, though would probably approach it differently now (like use a laser level).
Next room I want to do a home office. Ripped the carpet up again, saw similar stuff to the first room - what looked like a bit of sag, and some minor bouncing. However, one corner is comically high - something like 3-4cm higher than 1 metre away. I have been underneath but can’t fix this and would assume it’s probably never been level.
Are my options as follows?:
1) get someone to come out and take the skirt off, take the floorboard up, level the joists and bearers and relay the floorboards, plaster the walls, put new skirt on, then lay new hybrid/laminate
Or
2) settle for carpet again
Option 1 would be nice as the whole thing would look more modern and I could get in some new plug sockets etc, but I’m guessing it would cost a lot (how much)
Are there other options?
Thanks

➤ ► 🌍📺📱👉
“Shazam: Fury of the Gods” opened to No. 1 in North America, but the Warner Bros. and DC Comics sequel fell short of expectations with its disappointing $30.5 million debut from 4,071 theaters. Heading into the weekend, the film was expected to collect $35 million to $40 million, which already wasn’t all that spectacular since it cost north of $110 million to make and another $100 million to market.
It’s a substantial drop from 2019’s “Shazam,” the first comic book installment starring Zachary Levi’s quirky hero, which opened to $53.5 million and ended its box office run with $140 million domestically and $366 million globally. It’s also one of the worst starts in the DC Cinematic Universe, other than pandemic-era releases like “Wonder Woman 1984” ($16.7 million) and “The Suicide Squad” ($26 million), which both opened simultaneously on HBO Max.
At the international box office, “Shazam 2” added $35 million from 77 markets for a dismal global start of $65.5 million.
“It’s a soft start, there’s no other way to put it,” says Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at BoxOffice Pro. “Comic book films are steadily showing that without an event-level hook, it’s difficult to live up to predecessor performances.”
Reviews and word-of-mouth may not help “Shazam: Fury of the Gods” in the coming weeks. It landed a “B+” CinemaScore, down from the first film’s “A” grade. And it holds a 53% on Rotten Tomatoes, a dramatic decline from the original’s 90% average. David F. Sandberg returned to direct “Fury of the Gods,” which centers on Levi’s Billy Batson and his foster siblings — all of whom transform into superheroes when they say “Shazam!” — as they team up to fight the Daughters of Atlas, who wield a weapon that could destroy the world. Rachel Zegler, Adam Brody, Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren co-star in the film.
“Fury of the Gods,” to some degree, is also the victim of the big reset at DC. It’s the first movie to be released since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the superhero universe and set it on a brand new direction. Though the producers have been careful not to absolutely rule out the return of any established DC hero (save for Henry Cavill as Superman), fans can see the writing on the wall.
“DC sequels have seen diminishing returns in recent years,” Robbins says. “That’s compounded by the current creative shakeup, whose impact won’t be felt for a couple of years [but] makes the broader franchise feel even more fragmented to audiences for the time being.”
At one point, comic book tentpoles were untouchable at the box office. But “Shazam 2,” as well as Disney’s poorly received Marvel sequel “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” are beginning to reveal cracks, at least when it comes to subpar-rated adventures. “Ant Man 3” impressed with its mighty $106 million opening in February, but it has crumbled in subsequent weeks and will almost certainly end up as the lowest-grossing installment in the trilogy, despite scoring the biggest start. DC’s prior standalone adventure “Black Adam,” led by Dwayne Johnson, also massively disappointed in its theatrical run, grossing $392 million worldwide on its $200 million-plus budget.
That’s not to suggest that superhero fatigue has taken over — and Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and Sony’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” look to dominate at the summer box office — but it points to a future in which studios can no longer release just any mega-budgeted comic book adaptation in theaters with the expectation it’ll gross at least $500 million globally with ease.
“So far [in 2023], ‘Ant-Man’ slowed after an excellent start, and ‘Shazam’ is falling,” says David A. Gross, who runs the movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research. “Neither film found an original, creative way forward; neither elevated their series.”
Elsewhere at the box office, Paramount’s thriller “Scream VI” slid to second place with $17.5 million from 3,676 North American cinemas. Those ticket sales, down 61% from its stellar $41 million debut, bring the sequel’s domestic tally to $76 million after two weeks on the big screen. The horror film has added another $40 million internationally, bringing its global tally to $116 million.
Michael B. Jordan’s sports drama “Creed III” took third place with $15.3 million from 3,477 venues, down just 44% from the weekend prior. After three weeks of release, the film has generated a stellar $127.7 million. Already, the third “Creed” movie has out-earned its predecessors as the first film ended its run with $109 million and the sequel tapped out with $115 million.
Sony’s prehistoric sci-fi thriller “65” landed at No. 4 with $5.8 million from 3,405 cinemas, a 54% drop from its debut. The film, starring Adam Driver, has grossed $22.4 million to date, which isn’t a great result given the $45 million budget.
“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” rounded out the top five with $4.1 million from 2,650 theaters in its fifth weekend of release. So far, it has generated $205 million in North America, above the original “Ant-Man” ($180 million) and behind the 2018 sequel “Ant-Man and the Wasp” ($216 million). But with $462 million globally, ticket sales for “Ant-Man 3” are dramatically below the first movie with $519 million and the follow-up with $622 million.

2023.03.21 09:17 lexidexi01 Worried about possible leukemia
I am a 21 year old female and am worried about the possibility of having leukemia. I’ve been sick for about three months in a row, off and on but mostly on. First a stomach flu, a respiratory infection, pharyngitis/tonsillitis, and an unresolved respiratory infection. I’ve been put on antibiotics twice in the span of a month and at one point I was taking 6 steroids a day. Multiple fevers a day, no one around me has been getting as sick as I have.
Before all of this and now I have been experiencing extreme night sweats where I wake up with drenched clothes and drenched hair, needing to change sometimes. On top of this I have been feeling very fatigued, maybe just due to all the sicknesses recently. Also I have been sweating lately just standing around where everyone else is cold.
I’ve also always had a lot of bloody noses since I was younger, but lately it’s been out of hand. Up to 3 a day that will not go away easily. My job knows me as the girl with constant nosebleeds now. These happen in the car, when I’m sleeping, at work, in the shower… etc.
The absolute last thing I want to do is jump to conclusions but when I looked up all of my symptoms this was the top one. I just had blood work done because of all my sicknesses and the only abnormal result was my lymphocytes. The normal is between 1.00 - 3.60 x 1000/mcL and mine was 3.89. I have an appointment with my doctor in a few days but I’m so worried. I’m looking for some advice whether I’m just being a hypochondriac or something bigger could be going on here.

DESCRIBE CHAT GPT AND ITS 6 USEFUL TIPS
We're going to explain WHAT IS
ChatGPT so you can ask this artificial intelligence chat the questions you want without having to use English. It will also be useful for ChatGPT Plus.ChatGPT is one of the latest bombs based on the GPT-3 artificial intelligence language model and it can range from explanations to writing scripts or articles for you.
It's a conversational web powered by artificial intelligence that turns everything on its head. Some see it as a future replacement for Google, and in addition to text, it can even run virtual machines. And its texts are so amazing that even teachers can have problems with applications, because this AI can write articles and essays or even compose poetry.
Before you start, the first thing you should know is that in order to use
ChatGPT in service , you need to register on the site. To prevent the servers from being flooded with users, only registered users can currently access the chat, although registration is free. Just go to chat.openai.com and register by clicking Register or sign in with your account.
Signing in takes you to the main conversational chat screen. You will see her with some suggestions and below you have a bar where you can write to her and ask her anything you want. Here you don't need to configure anything, just write a message. Questions are enough, because in the last few weeks one has been the most discussed topic on the entire Internet: ChatGPT. Much has been said about his incredible ability to find answers and the way he articulates them in conversation. That's why I decided for the main topic of this week's Mind Tricks to give this bot a short interview about the impact this kind of artificial intelligence can have in the world of advertising.
You'll also find readings about Elon's Infinite Show, Achievement Valley, a new MTV and how brands create value. And in my obsession of the week, a new chapter in the video game legend.

2023.03.21 09:17 NateroniPizza 10-20f Sleeping Bag, ~2 lbs(?), <$300
Hello all,
My parents and I are looking to get my brother a down sleeping bag for his birthday. He's got an old, absolutely massive and heavy Field and Stream 0 degree sleeping bag that he says has him shivering under 30f.
Looking around online, there seem to be quite a few options. I'd initially gone and looked at the REI Magma 15 as I bought the older Magma 10 model 5-6 years ago and have been happy with that down into the 20s (and a couple times <20f) with no issues, but based on the reviews and general comments their quality has gone downhill and the fill is now insufficient for sub-freezing temps for a lot of people. The price has also increased a fair bit, but with the current sale is close enough to the price target. I've also looked at the Nemo Disco 15, and while there are quite a few positive reviews, I've read some similar complaints about insufficient fill under freezing, as well as cold spots where the two vent zippers are. The Mountain Hardwear Bishop Pass 0 could be an option (and is Outdoor Gear Lab’s winter sleeping bag budget pick), but it's a bit on the heavier side.
For his uses, he will be most-often car camping, but with a smaller bag would like to go backpacking, dirt-bike camping, and rafting (I'm trying to talk him into a self-support kayaking trip at some point as well). Realistically, temperatures down to 20f in our area, very occasionally dipping into the teens during spring/fall, particularly in the mountains. He's expressed a desire to go winter camping, but I'd probably just recommend layering a quilt over top of the bag if we end up doing that.
Criteria:
- Sleeping Bag. Not a quilt. I see that many people like quilts, but he's not sold on the idea. Non-negotiable.
- Under $300 (there are some sales ongoing that can bring some higher-priced items under that, such as with REI or Moosejaw's 20% off). If there's an option that checks all the boxes and is slightly over, it could be a consideration.
- Truly comfortable down to ideally 10f, but 20f of comfort would probably be sufficient (yes, with a decent r-value sleeping pad).
- Ideally as close to 2lbs as possible. This is the checkbox that seems to be YEETing the pricing through the stratosphere. Realistically, this isn't quite as high on his priority list (an extra pound won't kill him) given the bag he'll be coming from, but as I was able to find this in a relatively budget sleeping bag (Magma 10 for ~$250 on sale a few years ago), I was hoping to get close to that for him as well.
Thank you

2023.03.21 09:16 Dunjindad Zion (part 1&2)
I remember the experience clearly, beyond just memories it seems like it stayed with me in a psychological level. The haunting details have been engraved deep into my subconscious, and I wish for nothing more than a release from their torment. I'm an educated guy, and I know how it sounds, but it's important you know I'm not insane; aside from run-of-the-mill 20-something teacher burnout with a side of anxiety, I don't have the slightest history of mental illness. I write this now not only as an account of my experience here in West Virginia but also as a warning to anyone who finds themselves unfortunate enough to pass by those woods. I write this also as my final word to my wife, my friends, and my family because I cannot go on living with the constant evocation of terror when the sun fades away. The thought of walking through my day-to-day life with even an inkling of the possibility that someone or something followed me out of that place fills me with dread; it's hard to stomach food and nearly impossible to find enough sanity to drift into sleep for even a moment. I sit now in a vacant room. I'm in a decrepit old motel off of Highway 219, and I can hear things and see things lurking just beyond the parking lot through the hours of the night. The worst part now is that I'm completely unable to decipher wether or not what I'm seeing is reality or a manifestation of my recently developed trepidation. I'm sick now, and my mother has tried to contact me so often that sometimes my phone dies at night when I ignore the constant waterfall of phone calls. She must think I'm dead because I haven't returned one of her calls in quite some time now.
I'm a teacher by trade. I'm not your run-of-the-mill teacher either; I'm a private instructor. Usually the state, or some charity hires me to take on the monumental tasks of spending a semester teaching vastly undereducated kids. Most of the kids I teach can't even read, and they're often poor and disconnected from society; my most common contracts are in far-off towns or hamlets in the middle of whatever the area considers "the boondocks." I've had contracts in the middle of Louisiana's swamps, in mountain communities in Tennessee, and I've even been flown outside of the country to remote tribes just to teach kids how to read and write. Not to lay down a humble brag or anything, but the contracts usually paid really good money compared to your run of the mill teacher's salary, as they were usually funded by someone with a blank check and a mission to put themselves in the limelight for being a philanthropist willing to save the world from the plague of illiteracy. I've always had somewhat of a passion for my job; I got to design my own lesson plans and actually teach these kids something instead of reciting the monotone scripture pasted into an 80-dollar book. My point being, I don't think I've ever directly turned down a contract, and the one that landed me in my current situation wasn't any different.
I was sitting at my desk, rifling through the mountains worth of gigs that so often flooded my emails, scrutinizing the payout on each and every job addressed to me. I would often do this until my eyes grew dry and heavy in an attempt to find the perfect job to take for a semester, but on this rare occasion, just about a fourth of the way into the sea of digital letters, one specific sender jumped out at me. "The Fairhaven Community Church": I had up to this point never received an arrangement from a church, but what left me even more perplexed was not only its direct nature but the exorbitant compensation and contract length. The subject line read, "Private Tutor Needed for 5 Years at 100 Thousand Dollars a Year." I was floored by this statement and immediately wiped my watering eyes for clarity; the offer was too good to be true, and my skeptical nature caused me to audibly scoff when I read it again. I opted to dig further into the inquiry, and I was immediately greeted with a well-written, however poorly formatted, email detailing the needs of the small church community. I had to read the email three times over in order to decode the strange syntax, I came to the conclusion that the church was frequently taking on less fortunate families from around the state and wanted to not only help them and teach the word of God but also wanted to teach the families to read and write at a higher level to allow them to continue their studies. The church had a 5-year plan to rapidly educate a vast amount of families that would come in and out of the church through out the Time in wich the teacher was present.
The job posting brought forth quite a few red flags but the thing that gave me an uneasy feeling was the list of rules posted at the bottom of the email.
"The educator must use official church material to teach the present families"
"The educator is not to leave the premises of the Fairhaven Community"
"The educator must not under any circumstance enter any restricted areas of the Fairhaven Community "
"The educator must not corespond with any media or anyone who may spread word of the project before, during or after their time in fairhaven"
While I admired their aprehension to the press atention unlike most of my other clients who would demand interview after interview so that they would be viewed by the public as a hero crusading against the evil of ignorance and i could also see why the congregation wouldnt want some stranger from the city to poke around their sanctum.i'm not closed minded by any means but the thought of not even being able to leave the property seemed strange to me. Granted in the past when I made my trip to the Congo I was told not to leave the protected area I was in but that wasn't a rule as much as it was a guidline for my own safety. The biggest turn off concerning the listing was the fact that I could only use "official church material", as I mentioned before I enjoy being able to structure the lessons how I please and teach in the way I feel best suits my students interests and learning profile but I couldn't help be further swayed to take the job by the thought of being paid 500 thousand dollars for 5 years of work in a place that would handle my cost of living during the whole excursion. I'm writing all this as a poor attempt at justifying my own poor decisions. Even going back over what I've written I can feel my stumach turn while I read the blatantly obvious signs of danger.
The trip to West Virginia was, for the most part, uneventful and mind-numbing. I've always despised long car rides, despite being on the road so often when going from job to job. After an extended period on the road, my mind spins into an unconscious void and it becomes hard to determine where I've been. There are often times when I completely lose myself in the sea of vehicles in a never-ending stop and go only to find myself becoming aware an hour later. What little entertainment I had on hand usually prevented me from falling asleep or completely disconnecting from the human world on my thousandth 14-hour trip to the middle of nowhere. This trip, however, was different; I didn't find myself dissociating, nor did it feel like the run of the mill from point a to point b. I was nervous and the further I made in to my destination the more I felt as if I had made a grave mistake. Despite being a 28-year-old teacher with very little adult social skills, I couldn't help but feel that a 5-year contract with some pseudo-cult in the heart of West Virginia might have been a bit of an impulsive call even with the paycheck, and every time I thought of cryptic emails, I could feel my stomach constrict and knot at the very premise of meeting the strangers in person.
I found myself in one of my few "coming to reality" moments of the trip when I turned into a small town. I was surprised by the smell I was immediately greeted with; the distinct smell of mildew assaulted my senses at the very moment I passed a pale green and mildly vandalized billboard posted on the side of the road that read "Welcome to Dawson," scrawled in a cheesey font that made all the letters look like logs. The town itself was placed in a valley of some sort, almost completely enveloped by mountains on three sides, as if Mother Nature had left this perfect little alcove in the center just for this hidden civilization. On top of the distant, albeit ever-present, ranges sat hundreds of thousands of trees that wrapped the elevation in a verdant cocoon. The town itself was small compared to Tampa, as all the others were. There weren't any towers climbing towards the sky with an impossible number of floors; the pavement of the underutilized roads was a soft gray color, void of any fresh pavement, but the surface was laid bare of any faults as if it had been used, if only just enough to keep the earth from forcing its way back through the laid concrete. As I pulled up to what I can only imagine was the only stoplight in the town, my hands fumbled for my phone in order to check the status of my journey. 1 minute to destination was plastered at the top of the screen, leaving me in a state of confusion as the only things in sight seemed to be a few stores and what looked to be a small cafe on a road that stretched toward the horizon with no apparent end. The light turned green, and my GPS sent me to an immediate left to a small, run-down store just off the entrance that brought me into the mountain asylum. The store was decrepit; the paint was peeling from its decorative siding, creating a splotchy pattern of dingy blue and an aging off white. One of the large windows looking into the store had a sheet of wood crudely nailed over it, and an awning stretched from the end of the parking lot directly to the roof of the gas station as if whatever contractors built this were trying to deplorably hide the abomination from God himself. The store had no sign or title other than an LED fixture that indicated that the nameless fuel depot was open.
"You have arrived at your destination," the droning voice said through the speakers of my car as I came to a reluctant stop. I looked down at my phone to be certain the GPS wasn't struggling to find a pathway yet to be discovered by anyone except for those who had lived there their whole lives, but according to the directions, this was indeed my "intended" destination. Immediately checking my surroundings, I took note of the road that carved its way through the center of the poor excuse for a town ahead of me, sparsely decorated with various local stores and venues. According to my map the road didn't break off from this central strip for another 5 miles.
I buried my head in my hands after begrudgingly throwing my car into park and let out an exasperated sigh. I frantically flipped through the emails I had passed back and forth to my usual benefactor to find any messages concerning the exact location of my job site aside from the address I had been given.
"A fucking gas station, they gave me the address of a fucking gas station" I groaned as I came apon an email that had been sent...5 minutes ago. The subject line read "Apon Arival."
"When you arrive in Dawson, be sure to contact me at the number posted below so I may provide additional instruction on how to safely make it to Fairhaven. "Zion can be dangerous."
I felt my heart drop when my tired eyes made contact with the message below. My heart once again began to slam against my chest—was I lied to? Up to this point, the mystery man who had been detailing the project had alluded to my final stop being in Dawson. It was common to be sent to offshoots of towns that were far removed from modern commodities and human development, yet it was also common that whoever had hired me would be upfront and rather specific in telling me that my location wasn't so much a town as it was a "community" beyond the confines of city streets, so I wouldn't be surprised when I found myself over an hour away from the nearest comfort. I had also been warned of a place's dangers before; the last time I sat down to write, I mentioned that on a trip to the Congo, I was directly informed of the dangers of leaving my protective shell, but in those cases, safety was often typed in bold so that I knew what to expect from the start.
I was plagued with despondence as I slammed my phone into my pocket before forcing the door of my car open with an angry grunt. My brisk and heavy footfall fell onto the cement with intent, regardless of my clulessness. I pushed my way through the gas station's rusted door, which would have welded itself to the frame of the building if not for the little traffic that passed through it, when I was greeted with a poorly lit convenience store. The hum of aging fluorescent lights sang through the quite store. Web-like cracks formed on the yellowing stone as if the walls themselves were trying to escape from the neglected mess, the white panels on the ceiling were rife with black and brown spots indicating frequent leaks and water damage, and the smell was ungodly. I would have gone insane if I was forced to work in a room that had that pestilential smell glued to it. The shelves laid not quite bear but with just enough product on them that for the place to still be listed as a buisness that caused the aluminum casings to bend downward like they where struggling to hold the weight of a finite amount of light snacks.
I locked eyes with a surly man with ash and gray hair who sat behind the counter with a dejected stare. He wore a stained shirt and wrinkled jeans. His unkind eyes were bloodshot and glazed over with age, which seemed to break him, and his lips sat inward to indicate the lack of teeth in his sunken face.
"I can help you," he mumbled with a thick draw that I would have not understood if I hadn't met plenty of people of his likeness prior.
"Yeah, I'm... looking for Fairhaven?"
The grouchy old cashier scratched at his knife like whiskers and leaned onto the counter. "Fayrehayven?" He said obviously perplexed
I gathered what little skills of human interaction I had beyond lecturing a room full of students as I approached the man "right, I'm a teacher and..."
The old man quickly cut me off with little regard for or interest in my oncoming and admittedly pretentious elevator pitch, which I often gave to anyone who asked. "Yer in Dawson, gottanuff teachers last I heard."
"Yeah, well I'm not supposed to be in Dawson." I'm looking for Fairhaven. I interjected
The man responded with an apparent tone of disdain: "Ain't never heard of no FayreHayven; I've been here fiftee sebn years and ain't never heard of no FayreHayven."
I took a deep breath in an attempt to carry the conversation, but I've learned to count my losses when they make themselves known.
"Well, I suppose I'm lost then," I said, holding my hands up.
He grumbled once again and looked me up and down with his hateful glare before forcing out a slight "mmhmm."
I turned and rolled my eyes a bit before walking out of the store, completely defeated. I contemplated for quite some time before reaching back for my phone to examine the cryptic message that overtook my screen. I faltered only slightly before pressing my finger to the highlighted blue digits pasted at the end of the digital letter. The dial tone chimed for longer than expected, and right before the all-too-common voice mailbox message played, I heard a barely audible click before a voice came over the phone.
"Hello, Mr. Hayes," the man spoke in a scratchy, almost strained voice, as if he were exerting himself even while speaking.
The way the man spoke was just as unsettling as the emails we had passed back and forth previously, and without thinking, I responded with a little more panic in my voice than I care to admit, "How did you know it was me?"
The man retorted immediately. "I don't know many with a Tampa area code, my friend; call it intuition."
I kicked myself for being so skeptical after his truthfully sound logic connected with the bundle of nerves that was my mind before I mustered the confidence to say, "Sorry, I'm a bit on edge." "I think you might have given me the wrong address; I'm at a gas station just off the entrance to Dawson."
I waited for a moment before the man spoke once again. "The address we provided was correct; there are no pathways to Fairhaven, and we have attempted to remain secretive as to avoid the judgment of the individuals that may regard us as an unsavory commune." If you look to your right you will see a small path cut into the trees just beyond the convince store. "If you follow this path by foot, we will see to it that a member of the congregation greets you so that you can arrive safely."
I looked back towards the blue Honda Accord I had arrived in and argued, "All of my equipment is in my vehicle—my notes and laptop, my clothes, and I'm certainly not equipped to be hiking in dress shoes." I.."
The hoarse growl of the man rather shot back with an audatory shot of aggressive air: "We will see to it that your things arrive at the Fairhaven Community." I implore you to make your way onto the trail before nightfall. "The forest can be very dangerous without the sanctum of sunlight."
I glanced over at what I could infer was the overgrown pathway he was referring to with a shaky breath.
"I can understand your hesitancy; fear is a powerful emotion, but do not allow it to cloud your judgment." "The walk shouldn't take longer than a quarter of an hour." He spoke calmly now, but there was no comfort in his voice, rather a malignant vexation, as if it were meant to be a threat.
I gripped My phone white-knuckled at the accuracy of his statement. His perception of me was correct because I was not only terrified of the situation but also beyond frustrated at the thought of taking a hike up a mountain directly after a 14-hour trip with nothing but a 2-hour rest in a motel at the halfway mark.
"Guess I'll be there soon," I said, despite my mind showering him with a barrage of heinous insults. He hung up the phone without saying another word.
I gathered a few small commodities from my vehicle before turning towards the cutout hidden within the expanse of millions of trees that ascended to the summit of the gargantuan elevation ahead of me. It was overstated when the man labeled the cocofany of unkempt foliage a pathway; there was hardly even enough of an opening to make my way into the bramble, let alone not be perpetually scratched by the harsh and apathetic thorns that various plants had developed for occasions such as these. The slope that the natural alleyway was built on very quickly turned from a steady incline to a steep, near-vertical hill void of foothold, and I had to rely on my softened hands, which grasped desperately at the closest trees. It didn't take long for my feet to ache and burn. I'm not ashamed to admit that I've never been an outdoorsman. I was often poked fun at by the locals for being a city dweller when I gave a common toad a look of disgust, so it could automatically be assumed that I'm hardly the hiking type either.
The aforementioned 45-minute walk turned into an hour and then two before My knees buckled from beneath me. I was told that someone was to meet me at the point between the gas station and the community, and I was certain that I had to have made the trek to their standards regardless of my excessive stops. I laid my back against the trunk of a large tree before looking toward the sky. The faint glow of a reddening sky was barely visible through the canopy above before my dismay began to settle in. Nightfall was coming, and in the state I was in, I had no hope of making my way to the destination in the next 6 hours, let alone before nightfall. I closed my eyes tight and buried my head into my blistered hands, I could feel my brisk beating heart in my palms when the deafening roar of an engine rocketed my senses into overdrive. My head shot upward toward the golden beams of light, obscuring their source entirely.
"What in God's name is a fella like you doing way out here?" The voice wasn't the same as the man I had spoken to on the phone. It was just as old and eroded, but it held much more of the thick twang of a local.
"I'm looking for fairhaven." "They said they were sending someone to get me!" I shouted back over the boisterous hum of idling machinery.
"Well then, it's best you hop on." "Ain't a shot in hell in making any further in your condition."
I was in no position to argue, so I clasped my hands on a low-hanging branch and lifted myself upright before closing in on what seemed to be a crude attempt at an ATV. On top of the buggy was a middle-aged man with salt and pepper hair and an ice white goatee. He was draped in a flannel shirt and blue jeans that have seen their share of hard times. He wore glasses that fell to the tip of his nose in order to examine me further as I approached. I boarded my saviors vessel and caught a whiff of what I knew to be the pungent odor of illicit alcohol. This man wasn't what I expected from the conversations I had prior with the eccentric leader of the religious movement, but the thought was pushed to the back of my mind as the contraption immediately spun its tires against the leaves and dirt of the forest floor, kicking back a blast of woodland scrap backward as it twisted one hundred and eighty degrees to face parrallel with the pathway that I thought to be my demise, only to scream up the hillside with unexpected force.

2023.03.21 09:16 OLukioO New Boss: Crimson Skeleton Giant
This new boss can only be summonsed by using red sand blocks in a 2 blocks high, 3 blocks wide, 1 block long placement. You will also need a crimson skeleton skull which is a new item that can be a rare and random find in the new suspicious sand in desert temples and desert wells.
Once summoned, a health-bar will pop up and the boss will rush towards to player and attack them. The boss also carries a large crimson crossbow which it uses against the player and also drops it on death.
This boss has a total of 5 different attacks and abilities. These are:
- melee attack [12 damage] (if a player is in a 7 block radius, it will use this attack)
- ranged attack [8 damage] (if a player is out of a 7 block radius, it will use this attack. This CANNOT be blocked by shields and if attempted they will instantly break however it CAN be blocked using blocks which forces people to use them as their main source of cover)
- crimson resurrection (spawns 6 new crimson skeletons which carry bows and stone swords)
- crimson avalanche (spawns a TON of red sand falling onto the player in an attempt to get them to suffocate from it. This makes players build a protective ‘fort’ with a roof for safety from it)
- crimson explosion [16 damage] (if players are attacking it repeatedly at once, it will activate this ability. This deals a lot of knockback as well)
This boss can drop:
- 2 - 7 diamonds
- 2 - 7 emeralds
- crimson crossbow •deals x1.5 as much damage as a regular crossbow
•x2 as durable than a regular crossbow
•can be enchanted with same enchantments as a regular crossbow
•has a special ability that can be used once per Minecraft day: it can spawn 3 red skeletons by reloading an already loaded crossbow which activates this ability and wherever you fire that arrow spawns then in

2023.03.21 09:16 Yarperroberts Rank the Ghostfaces from each movie strictly as Ghostfaces
What I mean is...rank only the Ghostfaces from each movie as if they were their own entity (as the filmmakers claim). Don't factor in who was under the mask in any scene, or who the killers are out of costume. Just strictly the Ghostface character from each movie.
IMO, it goes like this:
Scream 6: A ruthlessly brutal Ghostface, and the aged masks were awesome.
Scream 2: Another ruthless Ghostface, creative kills, took out two cops alone, and the cop car scene was peak Scream brilliance.
Scream 4: A brutal Ghostface, also incredibly fast, and also took out two cops alone (granted these cops were goofy, but still)
Scream 1: OG Ghostface. The Casey/Steve kills are still arguably the most brutal/intense in the entire series, and still arguably has the most menacing phone calls of all GF's. This GF did have a low body count though, and left a lot of people alive.
Scream 5: Had some good phone calls, and some creative kills, but no chase scenes brings this Ghostface down a lot, IMO.
Scream 3: Despite having the most kills in this entire series, this Ghostface is the worst for me, IMO. Mostly one stabs to the back, phone calls weren't particularly menacing, and voice box with everyone's voice is lame. I did like Sidney's chase scene on the fake Woodsboro set though.

2023.03.21 09:16 Logical_Top9263 AITA for wanting to be more than just “a maid”?
I (20f) have been with my husband (25m) for a year and a half, married for one month. Long story short, my husband battled with his ex wife over the custody of their two daughters E (6) and A (3). He and I also have a daughter together (6m). Last December, my husband got full custody and the ex wife has not been in their lives since mid January after saying that she wants nothing to do with them and will never contact them again. But that’s a story for another day. Since the beginning of my pregnancy, I’ve done basically nothing but be a SAHM/SAHW. I had a difficult pregnancy that didn’t allow me to do much and I’ve been wanting to get as much time with my baby as I can before I’m really forced to work. Plus, my husbands work schedule doesn’t really give me too many options. That being said, I spend pretty much all of my time at home with kids making food, cleaning, driving people around, teaching, disciplining, you know the sorts. You’d think all of this would make me an important part of a family, right? Apparently not. All I ask for from my husband and his daughters is to clean up the trash that they make. That’s it and I can’t even have that. I’ll give it to my husband, he does the laundry and some dishes, but I take care of the household 24/7 and I rarely ever see the light of day unless it’s pick up or drop off to school and/or work. E has recently said that I’m a maid and she constantly talks about how I’m not her mom or parent. I expected some bit of backlash from them because of the situation, but i feel like it’s been quite a while to where I should have some kind of respect. And my husband doesn’t help all that much. He allows them to think I’m a maid at this point and rarely corrects them when they’re rude to me. About a week ago, I decided I’m no longer doing anything for them. I’m not doing pick ups or drop offs. I’m not cleaning unless it has to do with me or the baby. I’m not playing into the entertainment of them. My husband and I aren’t labeled as a couple as of right now. I just want change and to feel like I matter. I’m going through PPD, depression, anxiety… really hard right now. Maybe that’s just making my irritation higher? But I do feel like I’m reasonable. My husband recently took this to one of his Facebook groups and most of the men on there talked about how I was a bad mother and wife and it’s gotten into my head that I might be expecting too much from everybody. So AITA?

2023.03.21 09:15 ikittyrawr Neighbor got loud and crazy because I knocked on her door at 1am. Was I wrong? (Long post)
Sorry if this is long, not sure if this is the right place to put it but thank you for reading. So I kept hearing noise around 1am upstairs for like an hour, squeaking floorboards and stomping and I couldn’t sleep so I went to knock on the door. I’ve tried to ignore this for years and I even spoke to them/wrote them letters. She claimed to have already been asleep. I knocked on her door and she didn’t answer, I guess she was sleeping. The only other neighbor is right next door to her and they had their tv on so I knocked on their door to see if they were moving around a lot or what. The husband opens the door with his 6 year old kid and I said I’m sorry for bothering them so late but I was just trying to see if someone was running or dropping things because I’m not able to sleep.
The wife leaves a letter on my door saying don’t knock that late so I wrote her one saying I’m sorry and if I ever need to reach her, I’ll do so during the day. And she comes downstairs and starts demanding why I knocked on her door. I’m trying to answer but she kept getting louder and I couldn’t even hear myself think. She kept saying that I said this and that, she’s making up things I never said. I even wrote down in my diary of how I couldn’t sleep and what happened with my interaction with her husband and the kid the other night. She was yelling saying her kid has school so he’s asleep. I mentioned possible shared floorboards in the letter because when right next door steps on the floor, I hear the creak in my room so that’s why I was wondering about her apartment’s floorboards that I’m hearing it right above me. She went bat shit crazy threatening to call the cops. I talked to her just once before and they said they had a closet there, the only conclusion I got out of this was that it MIGHT be them because the neighbor directly above me was sleeping and not answering her door. I only decided to knock on their door because I heard they were awake.
I know the time I knocked on their door could’ve been better and I did apologize but I only get 2 hours of sleep a night because of constant noise from upstairs which sounds to me like dragging furniture, vibrating phone on the floor, dropping hammer like heavy things on the floor, etc. She kept asking why and kept demanding I tell her why I bothered them, I kept trying to but she would cut me off and keep yelling. She threatened to call the cops if I knock on her door one more time. That was the very first time I knocked on her door, I’ve spoken with her once before when she was walking past mine.
She kept making up things saying how I have a problem with her watching tv or that her son was asleep already (who did I talk to then? A ghost of her son?). My dad took her side apologizing to her and didn’t even listen to my side of the story. Seems like he doesn’t care that his daughter is so stressed and asks why I can’t ignore it. I even had to move out for like 10 months because of this (along with cigarette odors from next door but that’s another story).
My brother switched rooms with me thankfully. I was being super calm and apologetic all the way through. I tried to explain but she wasn’t hearing it, she wouldn’t let me finish a single sentence. Is this still harassment if I have only spoke with her once at their door? Actually her husband, not her. She came verbally attacking/threatening me about going to the police and yelling. I tried to do the best that I could and cooperate. I really just wanted to get some answers because upstairs claimed to be sleeping already. Was I so in the wrong? Is this kind of treatment justified? Her voice keeps echoing in my head and her seeing her face is making me physically nauseous. I thought this was a crazy reaction to something that could’ve been simply talked about and fixed without creating such a big problem. Dad taking her side and not acknowledging my suffering really made me feel a lot worse, I had 2 people yell at me and both weren’t listening. I have a migraine that won’t go away. I got so stressed I started crying with sharp pain in my stomach, I can’t go to sleep because of it. But dad said it’s my fault, am I really at fault here? Our family friends are cops so if it did escalate into something, I can ask them but I just wanted to see what you guys think.

Safe And Stylish: California's Equipment Laws Every Motorcycle Rider Needs To Know As a motorcycle rider, there are few things more exhilarating than hitting the open road and feeling the wind on your face. But with that freedom comes responsibility, and California has established laws and regulations to ensure riders remain safe and visible on the road. One of the essential safety regulations is California Vehicle Code (CVC) 27803, which requires all motorcycle drivers and riders to always wear helmets that comply with the U.S. Department of Transportation standards. Helmets can be seen as the rider's armor, protecting the head and face from impact during an accident. Just like a knight must wear his armor when he goes to battle, a rider must wear his helmet to protect himself while riding. https://preview.redd.it/aw046lklw1pa1.png?width=906&format=png&auto=webp&s=5f1460f68f51ff0346395a3895f307908a76badb However, helmets are not the only safety equipment riders need on their motorcycles. According to CVC 26709, all motorcycles must be equipped with suitable and left mirrors. This helps riders to see the traffic behind them, giving them better awareness of their surroundings and reducing the risk of accidents. Another vital safety regulation relates to the positioning of handlebars, as defined by CVC 27801. Handlebars should not be installed in such a position that puts the rider's hands more than six inches above his or her shoulder height as he or she sits on the seat. This regulation helps to ensure that the rider has better control of the motorcycle and reduces the risk of accidents caused by losing control. According to California regulations, motorcycles that were built and registered on or after January 1, 1973, must have functioning turn signals installed at both the front and rear of the vehicle. These signals help riders communicate their intentions to other drivers on the road, reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring better road safety. For motorcycles and exhaust systems manufactured from 2013 onwards, exhaust systems must comply with the Motorcycle Anti-Tampering Act, which ensures that the bike does not emit excessive pollutants into the air. This helps protect the environment and ensures that the motorcycle is safe and reliable to ride. When riding at night, it's essential to ensure that you have adequate lighting to ensure visibility. According to California regulations, if you drive a motorcycle at night, you must have a minimum of one headlight. This helps other drivers see you from a distance, reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring better road safety. Finally, under state law, motorcycles must have taillights that will remain on for 15 minutes after the engine has been shut off This ensures that the motorcycle remains visible even after the engine has been turned off, helping to reduce the risk of accidents and ensuring better safety for riders. Helmet and other safety equipment laws are in place for a reason. The purpose of these regulations is to safeguard the well-being of both motorcyclists and other individuals on the road and to mitigate the likelihood of accidents occurring. By following these laws, riders can enjoy the freedom of the open road while remaining safe and responsible. So, before you hit the road, ensure you have all the necessary safety equipment and remember that safety is always the number one priority. Why Lane-Splitting Could Be A Lifesaver For Motorcyclists As a motorcyclist, have you ever felt trapped in traffic, surrounded by cars, and unable to move forward? Lane-splitting and lane-sharing may be the solution to this problem, and it's legal in California! With Assembly Bill 51 in 2016, California became the only state in the U.S. where lane-splitting is legal. https://preview.redd.it/dl8wmblmw1pa1.png?width=906&format=png&auto=webp&s=ded06306f64f87ccb2fd5594d914714a88ff10c7 However, as much as lane-splitting can be a convenient and practical way to maneuver through traffic, it's not without its risks. So, how do you know when it's safe to split lanes? The California Highway Patrol has created guidelines to help riders make the best decisions regarding lane-splitting. But even with these guidelines, accidents still happen. Many experts speculate that lane-splitting is the cause of most motorcycle accidents. As a rider, it's essential to take additional precautions when lane-splitting. The Dangers Of Lane-Splitting And How To Avoid Them Lane-splitting is not for the faint of heart. It takes skill, experience, and a willingness to take risks. But even the most skilled riders can find themselves in a dangerous situation while splitting lanes. While lane-splitting allows you to avoid sitting in a "death zone" between vehicles, it also exposes you to other risks. Almost all incidents between motorcycles and passenger vehicles that occur while lane-splitting result from being pinned between two vehicles. This can be caused by the driver of one or both cars veering toward the motorcycle or by the motorcyclist lingering too long in the blind spots of other vehicles. The best way to protect yourself while lane-splitting is to stay alert and avoid passing between parallel cars unless you have enough space to move if another driver merges and closes the gap. Make sure that drivers see you coming before you are in the middle of the cars, and avoid splitting lanes at high speeds. Remember, intentionally blocking or impeding a motorcyclist in a way that could cause harm to the rider is illegal. As much as you have the right to lane-split, other drivers are responsible for sharing the road. Greater Risks If you are a motorcyclist, you are likely aware of the dangers of sharing the road with cars, trucks, and other larger vehicles. The risks are even more significant when lane-splitting or lane-sharing, as you thread the needle between vehicles and have less space to maneuver if something goes wrong. However, lane-splitting is also a necessity for many motorcyclists. It allows them to avoid sitting in a dangerous "death zone" every time traffic comes to a stop, which can significantly reduce the risk of rear-end collisions. The law in California permits lane-splitting, but there are guidelines that motorcyclists should follow to stay safe. For example, you should not drive more than 10 miles per hour faster than the surrounding traffic and avoid splitting lanes at merge points. Additionally, you should avoid lingering in the blind spots of other vehicles for too long and be aware of the width of lanes and road conditions before lane-splitting. While lane-splitting is legal, it is still a risky maneuver that requires caution and attention to the road. Motorcyclists should take responsibility for their safety by following the guidelines and avoiding reckless behavior. On the other hand, drivers of larger vehicles should also be aware of the motorcyclists around them and give them space on the road. Engaging in deliberate actions to obstruct or hinder a motorcyclist in a manner that could potentially cause harm to the rider is considered unlawful and can lead to significant repercussions. Lane-splitting can be a valuable way for motorcyclists to avoid dangerous situations on the road. However, it is vital to take additional precautions to ensure your safety and avoid accidents. Remember to ride responsibly and be aware of your surroundings to stay safe on the road. DUI Laws For Motorcyclists In California Riding a motorcycle can be an exhilarating and freeing experience. Feeling the wind on your face and the sun on your skin while cruising down the open road can give you a sense of freedom that is hard to match. However, with that freedom comes responsibility, especially in drinking and riding. In California, operating a motorcycle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited. The consequences of getting caught riding while intoxicated can be severe, both legally and personally. You could face hefty fines, jail time, and the suspension or revocation of your license. Not to mention the potential danger to yourself and others on the road. https://preview.redd.it/rfp32xvnw1pa1.png?width=906&format=png&auto=webp&s=f2485e39a6c99af015a6f1bf4116d3e7a2fd07f5 Can you imagine the guilt and regret you would feel if your decision to drink and ride caused a catastrophic accident that left you or someone else seriously injured or worse? The effects of drunk driving can be irreversible and life-changing, so it's crucial to think twice before getting on your bike after consuming alcohol. Motorcyclist Rights And Responsibilities In California As a motorcyclist in California, you have the right to ride in the same lanes as other vehicles, but you also have the responsibility to obey all traffic laws and ride safely. It's important to remember that you are not exempt from following the rules of the road just because you are on a motorcycle. Motorcyclists are often vulnerable on the road and must exercise caution and anticipate potential hazards. You may be harder to see than other vehicles, so use your headlights and wear reflective clothing to increase your visibility. You also must be aware of your surroundings, significantly when changing lanes, turning, or approaching intersections. At the same time, as a motorcyclist, you have the right to be treated fairly and with respect on the road. Other drivers should not intentionally block or impede your progress and should give you enough space to maneuver safely. Remember that you share the road with other drivers, and it's essential to be a responsible and courteous rider to promote safe and enjoyable driving experiences for all. Safety Tips For Motorcyclists In California As a motorcyclist, your safety should always be your top priority. Riding a motorcycle can be thrilling and exciting but also dangerous if you're not careful. To ensure your safety on the road in California, you should follow several safety tips. 1. Always wear a helmet and other protective gear, such as gloves, boots, and a jacket. This will help protect you in the event of an accident and can potentially save your life. 2.Obey all traffic laws, including speed limits, stop signs, and traffic signals. Remember, you are not above the law just because you are on a motorcycle. 3.Ensure your motorcycle is in good working order before hitting the road. Check your brakes, tires, and lights, and perform routine maintenance to ensure your bike operates safely. 4.Stay alert and aware of your surroundings. It is important to survey the roadway in advance for any possible dangers and maintain readiness to respond to unforeseen circumstances. Common Myths About Motorcycle Laws In California Motorcycling is more than just a mode of transportation. It's a way of life. The freedom, the thrill, and the excitement it brings is unmatched. However, with great power comes great responsibility. Understanding motorcycle laws is essential to avoid any legal troubles. Unfortunately, many myths and misconceptions about motorcycle laws in California can put riders in harm's way. Have you ever heard that lane splitting is illegal in California? That's a common myth that puts motorcyclists in danger. It is legal and a common practice among riders. However, it should be done safely and at a reasonable speed to prevent accidents. Another common myth is that wearing a helmet is only mandatory on the freeway or for long-distance rides. That's not true at all. Helmets are required for all riders, regardless of the distance they are traveling. A helmet can distinguish between life and death in a motorcycle accident. Knowing the actual laws and regulations allows you to ride confidently and enjoy the thrill of motorcycling while staying safe and avoiding legal troubles. The Consequences Of Believing Motorcycle Law Myths Believing motorcycle law myths can have severe consequences. For example, if you believe lane splitting is illegal, you may avoid it altogether and miss out on its benefits. Alternatively, if you think you don't need to wear a helmet for short distances, you risk your life. Not only can these beliefs put your safety in danger, but they can also lead to legal troubles. You may face penalties, fines, and even license suspension if you break the law due to a misconception. It's crucial to separate fact from fiction regarding motorcycle laws. Don't let myths and misconceptions put you in harm's way. Know the rules, ride safely, and enjoy the freedom of the open road. Carrying Passengers On A Motorcycle In California: What You Need To Know Although riding a motorcycle with a passenger can be an exciting adventure, it is crucial to comprehend the legal prerequisites for such an undertaking in California. While there is no age restriction for passengers on motorcycles, the law mandates that the passenger seat must be securely fastened to the bike behind the driver's seat. In addition, passengers must have footrests, which must be used while the cycle is in motion. https://preview.redd.it/dhp17z3qw1pa1.png?width=906&format=png&auto=webp&s=8872de7d6c8e1ae15a152618f18c5071eccfb205 You may be wondering, can children ride as passengers on motorcycles? Technically, yes, as long as they meet specific requirements. However, the child must be at least 4'9" tall, so they are no longer required to use a child seat. As a responsible rider, you must ensure that your passenger meets these requirements before taking them for a ride. Motorcycle Insurance Requirements In California: Don't Get Caught Without It You may have heard the saying, "It's better to be safe than sorry," which applies to motorcycle insurance in California. As a motorcyclist, you are required by law to carry minimum liability insurance. This includes $5,000 for property damage, $15,000 for bodily injury to an individual, and $30,000 for physical injuries to multiple victims. You may face a one-year driver's license suspension if you are involved in an accident and do not have the required insurance coverage. This can lead to significant inconvenience and financial hardship. It's not worth taking the risk and getting caught without insurance coverage. To protect yourself and your loved ones, it is crucial to carry minimum liability insurance. It ensures compliance with the law and peace of mind in the event of an accident. 2023.03.21 09:12 ilovecastlevania Just installed Luma Cfw and am wanting to put some gb/gbc/gba, nes/snes, ds, and 3ds games on it. (questions about best emulators to use, max file amount for the rom folders, hacks/patches/translations)
So I just went through the steps on that one website and I'm on the current Luma cfw, and have twilight menu installed.
I've downloaded (ahem, "backed up") a bunch of ds games so far but am waiting to move them to my microsd. I'd guess around 100 or so ds games. And want to grab some gba games and a few gbc and gb games, and probably a good amount of snes games.
I hate using retroarch so that's not my preference for any emulation.
- Is twilight menu the best thing to use for nds games if I don't want to install them to my home screen as individual games?
- Is mGBA the best thing for playing gb/gbc/gba games?
- Snes9x3DS for snes games?
- Snes9x for nes? Or is there a better nes emulator for n3dsxl?
- Do gb/gbc/gba/snes/ds/3ds rom hacks, translations, patches etc, all work on n3dsxl systems? I'd like to play some smw hacks as well as possibly some English translated games and probably try out a few Pokemon game rom hacks/fan games.
I'm mostly asking for help because moving the microSD card back and forth between my computer and n3dsxl over and over again is getting to be a pain in the butt. I'd like to finish up with taking the microSD card out of the n3dsxl for now and have the games and emulators set up properly.
- I'm using a 256gb microsd card. Is that big enough for normal 3ds stuff as well as the extra emulation stuff or should I get a 512gb microsd card?
- Last question, is there a max folder size or amount for roms for various systems/emulators? I think I read something about twilight menu having a max of 320 roms per folder before it can't load it or something? Does that also apply to gb/gbc/gba, snes games?
I'm looking to avoid VC injections because I think there's a 300 tile limit for the 3ds and I'd rather use that for 3ds games and there's a lot of other games for other systems I want to have on my microsd card and that would eat into the weird 300 tile space I could use for 3ds games.
- Also, any gb/gbc/gba/snes/ds/3ds roms/rom hacks/patches etc you'd recommend?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: sorry for poor formating. I put questions numbered 1 through 8 in my post and it doesn't show up that way when I update the post.

2023.03.21 09:12 burnburnburn-er Trouble Deciding Between Two Offers... Advice?
I recently received an offer from a startup. My current employer countered. Having trouble deciding. Scenarios are below: Potential new employer's offer: 125k base, 50k shares (targeting an exit in 5 years, share price of $5), 3 weeks PTO, Engineer Title Current employer's counter: 138k base, plus 10% (13.8k) in stock of publicly traded company, 4.5 weeks PTO, Engineer Manager Title (2 direct reports)
Staying with current employer is a promotion to manager position, whereas the new employer is a lateral move with potential to move up in a few years. Current employer is offering better pay, has better PTO, and I'm more competent in their core product. Also, we're likely heading into a recession.
However, I am excited at the chance to start somewhere new. I like the idea of learning from new people, as opposed to my current scenario where people are always looking at me for answers (I'm still early in my career). My current employer also has high turnover, leaving more messes for me to clean up plus the additional delay of training new hires. I already work fairly long hours with my current employer (50hr weeks), I imagine initially at the startup I would return to a 40hr week, though in 6 months or so I'd probably be back around 50hrs because it is so small.
Basically, do I play it safe and accept greater pay and a promotion for more work and stress, or do I jump ship and start anew with at least a year or two of excitement and optimism when coming in to work? I've been leaning toward leaving (personal health > money), however, the bank failures and impending recession are making me think twice.

2023.03.21 09:11 AshleyRae394 1 year old Golden retriever bathroom issues
We got our guy when he was 6 months old. For the last 6 months I’ve been putting a ton of effort into his training, and he does really well with the basics, but he seems to have major difficulty understanding bathroom time. He has definitely improved since we got him and isn’t going in the house often but every now and then he will still go on the floor in the morning. He just doesn’t seem to understand that he needs to go when we’re outside. For instance I took him outside tonight because he walked to the door and whined, took him to the same spot I always bring him, and he just stood there doing nothing. Waited 10-15 minutes and he didn’t do anything. Brought him inside and left him on leash, waited 10-15 minutes and brought him back out. He just stood there and did nothing. Bring him back inside and put leash away, 10 minutes go by and he’s walking to the door and whining again. I wonder if he’s testing his limits or bored at this point and just tell him no. Sometimes in the mornings when my boyfriend gets up he will take the dogs outside, bring them back in and feed them, and then he has to hurry up and get them back outside before the dog goes on the floor. The other morning he turned his back for a minute to pick up the food bowls and put them away and in the time he turned around the dog was pooping on the floor. The morning thing isn’t an everyday thing either, like once a week maybe. I guess he gets too excited for breakfast that he doesn’t want to go in the morning but what about the other times like tonight? Should we withhold breakfast until he goes in the morning, and if so, isn’t that unfair to the other dog who does his business as expected? How do I train him to just use his potty time outside wisely? I’ve had dogs my whole life and never had an issue like this before.

2023.03.21 09:10 ThorAlex87 Aqara opple 6 button switches disappeared? Alternatives?
Is it just me or has the 3/6 button version of the aqara opple zigbee switch completely dissappared from aliexpress?
I like these as i can turn them 90 degrees and push the top for on and bottom for off so they work the same as the traditional swithches in my house I'm a creature of habit and not having to think about what switch works how is really helpful and makes everything much more intuitive. So far I have not found any other battery operated zigbee switches that does this, but if anyone know of any alternatives that can work like a traditional tripple switch I appreciate a tip!
